http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/n…known/79708740/

Quoted

In an unknown number of Iowa Democratic caucus precincts Monday, a county delegate was awarded after the flip of a coin.

Why is the number unknown? Because officials who reported county delegate totals without using the party's smartphone app weren't required to signify if the win was the result of a coin toss, said Sam Lau, a spokesman for the Iowa Democratic Party.

Lau said seven coin flips were reported statewide through the app, and Bernie Sanders won six of them.

The Des Moines Register has identified six coin flips through social media and one in an interview with a caucus participant. Of those seven, Clinton was the apparent winner of six. It's unknown if there is any overlap between the coin flips identified by the Register and the coin flips the state party confirmed.

Quoted

The coin tosses were used to determine county delegates, of which there are roughly 11,000 across the state from 1,681 precincts.

Quoted

“The data we have suggest the game of chance was a rare occurrence and of the data we have, Sanders won the majority of those delegates that were chosen through the game of chance,” Sterzenbach said.

Norm Sterzenbach, a former executive director of the [Democratic] party

Regardless of the outcome of the coinflips, 6-12 ish county delegates (won from precincts ) makes no difference to the several STATE delegate equivilents that Clinton won by.

This entire story, and that it's a story at all on the internet, is fuckin nonsense.

Moving on to shit that actually matters.

Rubios strong third, has netted him a flurry of new endorsements from sitting senators and representatives, The NH GOP side is pretty much unknown, no real polling has happend post-iowa yet, pretty much anyones game.

NH is Sanders for dems, there's pretty much no way he's losing that state. it probably wont even be close.

RIP rand paul

Yeah, I disagree with Rand on basically everything but I like that he actually tried to care about the people he represented. I would've loved a Sanders vs. Rand election, it would've been mainly policy-focused. We don't get many of those in 'Murrica.

I'm already pretty sure that I'm voting Vermin Supreme for this election. Thanks electoral college, I'll just take another year of my vote not being counted to begin with.

Oh, forgot to mention it, I just got my absentee ballot paperwork in the mail today. They might be done processing it by the time primaries roll around, SC is pretty terrible about absentee ballots. They sent my mother in a loop when she tried to get the paperwork for me (their website was acting funky so I couldn't get it online). My uncle (who's a cop) was able to get it for me. So damn stupid.

I'm waiting for Hillary to be arrested in the middle of one of her bullshit speeches. FBI has been leaking about her like a sieve recently, they want her skewered. I hope the Obama justice system lets it happen finally. Any lower ranking government official would have been in jail months ago.

You might not know it from wandering around the internet, but Hillary is actually better liked than Sanders is.

Overall favourability ratings - 51% sanders. 53% Clinton.

it's only 2%, and so functionally it's a tie, but still. not exactly what you'd expect.

I don't see why you should need anything other than a valid photo ID to vote.
Here they just tell where you're on the voting list depending on your registered residence and tell you to bring a photo ID with you.

Supreme Court Justice Scalia is dead. This is going to be a hell of a carnival.

There are a lot of people dancing on his grave already, though. Geez, that's a hella immature. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean you should rejoice at their death.

So, it's The Donald versus Hillary Clinton. Unless some miracle happens, of course.

So there was an article on a large and usually rather reliable German newspaper website that quoted this twitter post:
https://twitter.com/GregDjerejian/status…2411777/photo/1

The last two sentences are really appalling for me as a German.

extracted sentences

Quoted from "Gregory Djerejian's Twitter"

Yes, we could be like the good citizens who voted for a "tameable" Hitler in 1933 to get things back on track.
But the alternatives look far worse.

Also the attitude "yeah, we'll not vote for the Democrats because the losing Republicans would just provoke a gridlock again and nothing would happen for yet another term" is extremely harmful.
Surrendering to the bully.

Memorable quotes not taken yet:

Of course, this ignores the non-constant cross-sectional first moment of area across the chest as well as non-constant material properties of the boob; it would be difficult to perform a more detailed analysis (as in, I'd have to have a shape function AND I'd need to derive a function for elastic modulus as a function of lateral breast coordinate) but whatever. It's 2am and I'm lazy.

I always believed science should be very hands on experience.

You should also answer this question I had posed in that thread: Would you be willing to pay your surgeon more if he was going to use a chainsaw for the opening incision of surgery? Clearly using a chainsaw isn't truly suited for surgery but that doesn't really matter. If he's "skilled" enough to be able to use the wrong tools of the trade, he should be rewarded for that skill right?
