Finally, an area I can converse about as well as the G3.

Firstly,

obvi, no one can claim for sure whaat the DNC's relationship to Bernie is. what i do know (and i'll update with sources later) is that:
1) Bernie sander's campaign team found access to data they knew they weren't supposed to have
2) they figured out how they had access to such information to understand the nature of the breach in order to report it properly; the data was not used
3) they reported it to the DNC which in turn put a spin on the situation which implied that the breach was intentional on the part of Bernie's campaign
4) the employee who accessed the files was not only promptly fired; he was recommended by the DNC to Bernie's campaign in the first place

Secondly,

i think the thing people don't know about Bernie is that there's a wide swath of voters who are 1) potentially willing to vote for him and 2) not widely seen nor heard. what's dope is that 8yrs ago, america was shown that traditionally inactive demographics will vote (and traditionally active demographics won't). ex? black and young americans turning out in record numbers to vote for obama, and evangelicals not voting at all because romney wasn't there choice (and god forbid they vote in the socialist kenyan obama). who is the wide swath of unseen/unheard voters? millennials (especially people who have just recently turned the voting age at the conclusion of obama's presidency and at the introduction to one of the most interesting candidacy races of our present era), as well as undecided left-leaners who only question his electability (which might be found to be present should he win Iowa and New Hampshire, as it seems to be quite likely as we draw closer), and then to those entirely marginalized independents who are weighing either Bernie or Trump.

Trump has this strange meme magic working for him; he says vague shallow things that people fill with their own meaning. both trump and his supporters tend to repeat a lot of things that, after countless news and comment section reading, i've come to realize might not even really relate directly to each other. it's hard to tell because Trump is vague. i can't stand his public speaking - it's all candor, and not the Reagan kind either.

Thirdly,

in line with the somewhat satirical nature of this thread, consider this: a Bernie/Trump presidency.

bear with me: both of them appeal to this general widespread disappointment with establishment politics. both of them could come to a pretty interesting and dynamic economic plan. with Trump's idea of fostering capital and investment in the US, and his not taxing singles making less than $25k and couples making $50k, he somewhat appeals to both sides. Bernie's policies would of course require some tax hikes, but would be alleviated in the overall savings his plan would accumulate as well as Trump's plan not to have income tax for certain people. as well, his idea to raise minimum wage becomes somewhat more viable because companies and such are being taxed less. the two could also probably reach some meaningful gun reform that doesn't involve impeding rights while assuring public safety because Bernie actually understands how that whole dynamic works.
G3A3 or bust

Gunners and passengers are just for show.

Dude, I love Vermin Supreme. I'm probably going to end up voting for him. Because of how the electoral college works*, as a liberal from SC, my vote is discarded. Might as well display my dislike of the current Democrats (Sanders aside) by voting somewhere else.

*The electoral college basically makes states vote as a whole. If you don't vote with the majority of your state then your vote is 'discarded' since each state gets X electoral votes and they're not awarded proportionally. It's dumb and violates the word of our Constitution, but the Supreme Court upheld it (mainly because it gave George Bush the presidency back in 2000 despite him losing the popular vote and the SC back then was pretty...well, it was almost as dumb then as it is today. Scalia <3).

ouch a liberal in SC....that sucks. Yeah your vote really doesn't mean shit there. At least in my state is HEAVILY democrat. So while my vote doesn't mean crap at least its normally someone I can live with. ...not that the 4 electoral collages my state gives means much anyways.

his vote is especially useless, from his perspective at least. Hillary has such a lead in SC that there'd be no impact in either direction.

it does look as if all that anti-curz stuff has paid off, he's taken a solid hit. But whats the endgame there? preventing him from hitting a voteshare threshold that gains extra delegates? Keeping cruz/trump
close enough that a traditional candidate is still in striking distance? Or just to hand it to trump?

Iowa is much closer now for both parties. Cruz has functionally lost his lead over trump, and sanders is easily at least as close as he was last week, when he pushed in.

Interestingly, trump has said he will boycott the last pre-Iowa debate. Either it'll play well into his anti-establishment maverick line, or it'll set him up to be attacked as unserious and unreliable. And worse yet for him, it gives much more coverage and speaking time to to the trailing candidates. Traditionally, Debates help those behind, not those already leading. Giving more time to these guys is likely to hurt him. AND they can attack him in the debate, without any chance of him responding strongly on the spot, like he did to cruz on the NYValues mess.

omg what he did to Cruz on New York values mess was the funniest thing. Made him look like a dick AND applaud it.

I didn't know he planning to boycott the pre-iowa debate.

I SHOULD be able to vote in Texas but Texas is stupid. Even if you have a permanent residence in Texas, if you're single and a student in a Texas university you can't be classified as a Texas resident unless you start your own small business. Texas is pretty hilarious when it comes to loopholes within its voter suppression laws.

Furthermore, South Carolina is pretty dickish about in absentia voting. I'm apparently supposed to show up in person to get the form that lets me vote in-state when I'm out-of-state in the first place. Supposedly, you can get the form online, but their website is buggy as hell and the turnaround time on online applications is a couple of months (if they don't lose it or have website issues in the first place).

Still pissed off that the Supreme Court says that the electoral college is legal. Sure, "direct vote" in the Constitution means "vote for somebody who votes for somebody who votes for somebody who is not legally required to accurately represent his constituents." Sure.

To put that in perspective, there have been 156 instances where representatives DON'T give there vote the way their constituents vote.

The real problem is that there isn't a way to require them to actually do their job. Some states have laws punishing "faithless electors" but many don't.

If your job is to say X when people put you in power just to say X, then you get in trouble if you say Y instead.

It's because we have representatives vote for representatives vote for representatives. States vote, individuals don't. It's a horrible system.
