universally beneficial

I didnt say religion is universally beneficial. Its a helpful tool for people in crisis; It accelerates the ambitious; It sets the common rules for social behaviour (where every religion shares the same principle)

It depends on the societies understanding of their religion.

The poorest nations have the most religious people because of the situations they live in. It ironically contributes to the poverty cycle because in many cases the societies understanding of religion simply leads them to believe that they are incapable of fixing the present so they simply set their lives dedicated to earning a prosperous afterlife after they die and do very little to fix the issues at present.

The richest countries generally have a population that does not find religion to be a crucial factor in their lives and many of them are lead to believe that they have power to control their own destiny for this reason.
The biggest exception to this is the US, where it is arguably the most dedicated to religion than any other developed country, because their understanding of religion as a society promotes the idea of making the here and now a better place and not strictly worrying about the afterlife.

You are from the U.S. so you must have a better view on the situation there. I would say it comes from their understanding "The more I have achieved in life, the more God is willing to let me in heaven". I just cant remember the specific term for this mindset yet.

I didnt say religion is universally beneficial. Its a helpful tool for people in crisis; It accelerates the ambitious; It sets the common rules for social behaviour (where every religion shares the same principle)

They need a set of rules of behaviour they can follow. Science doesnt give them things like "Do not kill" or "Do not steal". A set of rules they need in their daily life. This set of common social behaviour is set by religion, not justice courts.
Religious people are not more "moral" than non-religious people . It seems that empathy and the understanding that killing and stealing isn't nice is a very universal thing. The ability to be part of a society and cooperate transcends religion.

In fact, I would be very disappointed in humanity if people required to be given explicit orders by some almighty astral big brother just to not go around and murder each other on a whim.

Here's the full study, sadly it's behind a paywall.

Yeah, I know. When I think of the religious crazies I have met in my life so far, I am not surprised at all. This happens when people interpret their own rules instead of sticking to the ten commandments. The bible is full of parabels and symbolic language which would handle the difficulties in certain situations. But then again, this is no stuff for stupid people anymore and can easily be abused by an "interpreter".

universally beneficial
Religion tells stupid people how to act and gives them a simpler version of how the world works.

They need a set of rules of behaviour they can follow. Science doesnt give them things like "Do not kill" or "Do not steal". A set of rules they need in their daily life. This set of common social behaviour is set by religion, not justice courts.
Science is totally capable of teaching moral rights and wrongs. Murder and theft are easily explained as wrong because they are disruptive to any organized society and hurt many other people. That's why they're barred in the basic forms of almost all religions, except for the ridiculous edits people in positions of power have come up with where it's okay to steal from or murder certain types of people. Sure, you can explain a lot of things much quicker to someone through [insert deity here], and it's easier to manipulate with fear, but in the end it's more beneficial (in my own observations) to teach through established reverence. I've never failed to teach a young kid these crucial things to function in society without religion. Yes, it takes more time, but, personally, I feel better not using fear to manipulate children.

Try to do that with the rest of human population. You will come to the conclusion that there are people who cannot be "saved"

And on religion: I'm not religious, but I don't care what others happen to have faith in. The best biology teacher I ever new was a Christian brother, and one of my girlfriends was Catholic. If they're not obnoxious about it, I'm not going to be.

"you obviously don't know what an argument is as there is only one person battling. Do you really fucking think I want subs? LOL you need medicine man. I don't want any subs as i just have a google account for other media and writing comments. Think twice before you act. You even said in your video you aren't that great of a player, and the comments agree you aren't. Maybe you should once again think twice before you act, stop being such an annoying, ignorant bastard that everyone wants to shut up, and god, literally, just shut up. Your voice gave me a headache :s"

"As a youtuber shouldn't be trying to be reeling in your viewers with exciting stuff being said not your boring ass commentary for your video"

"The more you watch his vid the dumber he gets I swear he's borderline autistic look I got shot behind cover beacuase thin sheets metal are unpenetrable. Bf4 is just as quiet and tactical as bf3 random explosion in the background . Player has dissconected from chat

"Marbleduck you don't know shit lol levelcap knows more than you do you cant talk about how someone puts up garbage when you do yourself your a newcomer to YouTube acting like you know shit step up in the food chain first then you have the right to talk otherwise your just a fish trying to compete with sharks"

"Why don't we just witness "LevelCap vs MarbleDuck" One on One both on Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 seen as there is so much Controversy about the Two Youtubers"

"stfu cunt, BF3 was way better end of discussion"

"Stfu man, you're be littleing the most looked upon Battlefield Youtuber. No one cares about you, how much of an ego you have, or quite frankly your opinion. It's a fucking game.... Does it really fucking matter? Pathetic man."

"fuck you asshole, dont talk shit about total"

"Wtf is your problem? You have no subs and he has millions, yet you pick on him like some kind of stubborn, ignorant, rude child born with a silver spoon is his mouth. It's easy to do that, for example... You said there was no background noise yet there is. You say you're a fairly good player, you're not."

The decision was made after people started rep trading in off-topic. Also, since the forum is about the games more than it is about off-topic, mods felt rep should be a metric reserved to single out the best contributors.

When are we getting the political stats up?

How much recoil does Donald Trump have when he stands for election?

Whatever it is, it needs to be nerfed.

Trump needs to be hit with the nerfhammer

I feel it worth mentioning that I grew up in Kansas, a state in which 46% of residents attend church on a weekly basis. It's not the highest, but it's pretty up there. This is a very religious place, and I have still managed to convince people that they should question things they are told by their "betters." It's not an issue of can it be done, it's an issue of how hard will it be to do. Sometimes all you need to have to turn someone's mind around is more respect from them than they give to the people who shaped their mind to begin with.
