So what exactly is the most optimal way to fire the LMG?

After falling in love with the LMG's superb anti-titan rodeo performance, I'm trying to "git-gud" with it against players.

The game states that it gets more accurate over time and it recommends against firing in short bursts, which is counter-intuitive to what I'm used to.


Should I be firing in long bursts, or should I just be holding the trigger down in full-on dakka mode? Or should I just focus on practicing with the revolver for anti-pilot work and save the LMG for anti-titan work?

If it's like the BLR lmg expect a very strong recoil on the first shots that gradually decreases.

Holding it down in "full-on dakka mode" is reccommended. The recoil goes down and you'll eventually start placing multiple shots on target on longer ranges.

TTK is so fast in Titanfall I prefer something that is good as soon as I click, not a second later. Other people swear by it, and apparently the mod that allows it to be used against Titan shields is really good.

Any bursting you do is going to be spent innacurate. You want to hold it down until they are dead. I don't see it very often, but one guy actually just opened up around the corner and came at me already shooting and it worked.

The anti-titan mod IS really good. You can take an ogre down from 100 to 0 with one magazine in a few seconds. Nothing else even comes close to its rodeo capabilities.


I just have a hard time having any luck against players with the thing. Up close, the weapon's initially terrible accuracy is a huge detriment. At range I'm not sure what hurts the weapon more, the initially poor accuracy or the fact that the damage per bullet starts dropping at a short range and at a rapid rate until the round loses the majority of its stopping power. It just feels like a player with a carbine can line up a single burst to kill you at any range in the fraction of the time it takes for the LMG to kill a target.

i'll rewmember this when i get the full game,if the pilotvspilot gunplay feels the same as the beta(aka have to unload to mag on someone to kill him,especially with anything that isn't the carbine) i'm going to be an hi-movement titan slayer pilot,with near to no usage of titans,so this might get quite habdy... kind of,as i think imho that this doesn't really answer to the op's question.

You might need to unload a mag at someone, but I can assure you with every gun you never need to unload an entire mag into them.

yeah well... i'm not really sure,i've seen video of people playing it during the beta,and saw they could kill people in less than a full mag,even half mag sometimes,but i couldn't in less than one... i was ads-ing all the time and i know titanfall has the same aiming mechanics of cod,so i figured out that as long as i kept ads,i would have had no accuracy problems,but i still felt like my bullets either di the sam damage of a min damage cbjms in bf4,or that i actually missed most of those shots without actually missing... i have some footage from the beta on the pc,do not know how many people i shooted in that vid while being a pilot,but i'll check if there were some of these instances,because honestly,i couldn't hit shit,hopefully it will be different in the final game...

IMO the Spitfire isn't that bad up close: just hipfire first and aim later. The hipfire accuracy might be shit compared to other Titanfall weapons, but it's miles ahead of LMGs in other games. I'd also use it with the HCOG, as the iron sights are kinda shitty imo. Their design isn't bad: they're just bulky around the outsides and the blue inner ring around the rear aperture is really annoying.

My problem with the LMG is that whenever I hear someone using it on the other team I instantly free run over there and get the kill because it draws too much attention. Might be good it you fire for 10-15 seconds but I would rather do my damage with a hemlok or carbine in 2 seconds and then keep moving.
