This build relies on the grandmaster dueling trait Triumphant Distorion to deal significant amounts of damage to clumped up foes. Survivability and damage mitigation comes mostly from blurred frenzy and mimic. In any zerg engagement your primary focus should be pulling off a successful mimic and moa on the enemy driver, mirroring your own drivers movements while staying out of the kill zone. There is a negligible difference between using assassins or berserker's armor. Much more important is staying alive, and to that end, not getting caught by the enemy focus party.

This is the PvP build I'm currently using.

Celestial amulet gives moderate armor/health with pretty good power and condition damage. Power/condition damage get boosted further because this build stacks might for days. Holding the flamethrower gives 7-8 stacks passively from juggernaut, Hoelbrak runes, and especially the sigil of strength stack even more when in combat. The high rate of fire of the flamethrower (5 attacks per second) means you're going to proc on crit effects as fast as possible. You gain at least one, sometimes two stacks of might with each flamethrower autoatack thanks to the sigil of strength. The rate of fire means we also proc infused precision constantly, which means near permanent swiftness, and thanks to invigorating speed, near permanent vigor when in combat.

The incendiary powder trait, and the incendiary ammo toolbelt skill mean you can keep up pretty much permanent burning, which besides the damage per tick for burning (usually 600+) you also get a 10% bonus on flamethrower damage.

You also get lots of knockbacks. Rifle 4, flamethrower 3, thrown mine, thumper overcharge, and thumper/healing turret blast all knockback or launch. You can push people off of a point, or keep them off of it as long as you can stay alive, because you'll pretty much always have some sort of knockback off CD. Stability can be hard to deal with, luckily mines can strip it, though the toolbelt skill has a long cast time, and if the target has lots of boons you aren't guaranteed to strip the right one.


I don't think this build would work very well in WvW, because the flamethrower has pretty short range (unless you think of it as a melee weapon, then it has awesome range) and you need enemies to be forced into specific areas to really take advantage of the thumper turret and mines. It's too easy to walk around them in the open spaces of WvW. Also, no speedy kits, which would make covering long distances in WvW tedious.

Variations:
-Swap to adventurer runes

-Hydromancy to energy or cleansing

-If youre drowning in gold change hydromancy to generocity or tormenting

-Change celestial trinkets to w/e you like but with condi dmg (i use celestials because I spent 1,5 months making charged chrystals ffs)

-Swap to Perplexity runes if you are drowning in gold or/and like mozzarella with cheddar and gouda

-Also if you like cooking... Rare veggie pizza as food.

-For those who do not like expensive builds try Krait runes.

-Rocket boots are my personal flavor here so those can be swapped to EG especially if you play with a small squad and also EG AA makes pistol AA look like poop so that is advisable.

-Rocket boots to something with a stunbreak for example Slick Shoes or Elixis S. Slick shoes have low CD on stunbreak and a nice knockdown for bigger fights and Elixir S has a 3 sec immortality with 5 sec stealh on toolbelt.

-Maybe swap bomb kit for nades but then you have to do this:

-Rocket boots to something with a stunbreak for example Slick Shoes or Elixis S. Slick shoes have low CD on stunbreak and a nice knockdown for bigger fights and Elixir S has a 3 sec immortality with 5 sec stealh on toolbelt.

Elixir gun also provides a stunbreak on its toolbelt skill. EG has really good utility all around.

The trait Rifled Barrels also pushes EG range from 900 to 1200. +300, even though the trait says +200. It's also only +150 for pistol.
