Keep in mind that a hybrid drive will only help launch a game quickly if it was the last game you played, as that is the info that is stored in flash memory. If you find yourself switching games often, it may not be very much benefit.

@botafogo4life

Was also informed when building my new PC, from anecdotal evidence, that hybrids are not really all that much faster than a fast hard disk and a tad less reliable overall. Depends on the longevity of the thing though I suppose :)

I bought that one (a lower storage version) and no complaints so far.

I have no experience with the pro but I wouldn't say it's worth it unless you have a super high resolution TV.

Ok, I certainly don't have a SHDTV... Hell, my PS4 doesn't even work on my big-screen TV, so I left my PS3 hooked up to it and moved the PS4 to my bedroom...

So maybe I can get away with just buying the 1 TB version? About how many games is that good for?

1TB vs 2TB is entirely down to how much game storage you want. Your games will be the same size regardless of what TV you use.

so, here i come back with more questions about monitors after what, a year? reason being i forgot the realizations i had last time and this time i'm gonna buy a screen as i already gave more than enough people i know gifts already and i have nothing else to buy, also my current tv is dying(perhaps litterally, screaming with agony in the middle of the night during certain periods of time) and it's no more a matter of wish but of need.

so, i came to notice that while my original pick, the lg 29um68 is pretty good, it is also fairly larger than my current 16:9 screen, and a 25um58 would fit the monitor transition a lot better, then again, i can just put the new monitor back a bit further and be done with it, but here come sthe questions.

1: what's the difference in peripherals between the two? (e.g. hdmi, digital port, audio jack, speakers...)
2: is the difference of 60vs75 hz real and would it have a visible effect in game, on pc?
3:would freesync(considering i have an amd build and that when i'll change pc parts who knows when, i'll probably get an rx480 or similar) be worth the way higher price?
4: if i'd get the 29um68 insttead of the 25" screen, how far back would i have to put it compared to the 25 to give it a feel(in vertical fov) of that of the 25 inch? at the moment, the monitor i use which is like 1 centimeter less tall than the 25UM i usually use at an eye-to-screen distance equal to about 60cms (less-minus 15cms, minus when playing an fps, plus when watching a video/movie/whatever, 60 is what i use for less eye-taxing games and when writing usually)

monitors:

LG 25UM58 Monitor da 25", 21:9 UltraWide LED IPS, 2560x1080, Multitasking, 2x HDMI: Amazon.it: Informatica
LG 25UM58 LCD Monitor 25 ": Amazon.it: Informatica (why does this cost a lot more than in the previous link?)
LG 29UM68-P UltraWide Full HD IPS LED Monitor LCD Monitor PC, 29", Nero: Amazon.it: Elettronica

p.s.: actually i'm starting to have a doubt... is the 25um58 75hz too? and what about the new(2017) version? i heard they have a lot better response time, also, is this related to the digital display port and/or freesync? if i wanted to get a better fluidity say, on ps4, would it make any difference to choose one over the other? (ps4 only has hdmi iirc)
LG 29UM69G-B LCD Monitor 29 ": Amazon.it: Elettronica

@iota-09
Not an expert but answering the parts I know answer to.

1) Check LG's site for answers (google the product name and you should get results). I often find Amazon descriptions quite flimsy.
2) Hard to say. Not the largest difference, but change like 60->90Hz is way larger than e.g. 100Hz -> 144Hz.
3) I can only really say it works only in fullscreen mode (which is why I don't personally use it)
4) Probably similar-ish distance(?), given it has same vertical resolution.

And for PS4: Console games rarely run even at 60fps, so higher refresh rate is probably not going to change end results much.

1: the 29um69 has it as well as the 29um68, dunno about the 25 though...
2: well i've never seen irl a monitor at more than 60 fps, so i don't know if i'd notice or not.
3: then, if what i've seen is real and only the 69 has non-freesync 75hz and i wanted it for that too, the 68 would be a non-option...
4: well between my current monitor and the 69 there's a roughly a 3cm difference in screen height according to amazon, but not sure if that's the screen height or the entire monitor's.

edit: actually was able to find out by searching on googl ethat the 58 series has no speakers.... guess that the choice it's between the two 29s and at which price i can find em.

oh and about the distance thing: it's not about the resolution, it could be 4k or 480p or, to put it simple: turned off, i wouldn't care, what i care about is the perceived height of the screen, basically, how far back a 29"ultrawide should be to look as tall as a 22" 16:9 from a 2D perspective using X distance(based on the 16:9)? i want to know that, so that when i get it i have to do the most minimal amount of adjusting in terms of getting used to the different screen.
i'm sure there's some kind of formula probably similar to ones used in the past in relation to gun spread calculations for this kind of problem, but i suck(read: know nothing of) at math.

here's some more info on screen heights i got from a calculation website:
22" 16:9 = 10.8" (27.4 cm)
29" 21:9 = 11.3" (28.6 cm)

and yeah... while i'm not sure if i'd notice 15 more fps, i'm 100% sure i'd notice this difference, i'm the kinda guy who covers part of their upper screen when playing games like destiny or halo, where the aimpoint is lower than the center of the screen.

1. Display Port is the best connector available currently. HDMI carries display and sound but only at 60hz, Display Port carries display and sound but at 144hz (at 1080p).
2. Yes, you will notice, so long as your computer can achieve 75 FPS. The difference won't be as profound as going from 60 to 144, but it is there.
3. I don't think Freesync is worth the added cost right now, neither is Gsync.

i don't think either of you still understood what i mean with calculating distannce... say, that at 40cm my screen cover 50% of my eyes vertical fov(basically how big the screen looks to me), if i get a bigger screen, obviously it'll cover a bigger area of my fov, so to make it cover the same area, i need to put it further, but how much further? that's the question.

anyway, i guess those are some pretty good point, and if freesync isn't worth it, then it means i've got to get the new one, because i've pretty much confirmed the um68 is indeed 75hz only with freesync.

You don't calculate monitor viewing distance by your field of view, you calculate it by where it won't produce eye strain when using it. You're asking a question that nobody has an answer for because nobody determines viewing distance that way. I've given you the best tool you can use to determine where it should go.

If the freesync monitor is the one you want, I'd say go for it. I say it's not worth it because I've never felt like either monitor sync system was going to be beneficial to me in such a way that justifies another $100+ on the price tag. That will probably change the next time I buy monitors, but considering I just got my new ones, that won't be for a long time.

thing is:all of them are freesync, but only the um69 uses 75hz without freesync.

p.s.: well, thought i wasn't the only one who chooses to stick to their gaming habits rather than adapt even if it'd be more healthy.
