Of course you suck if you play at 10 fps whenever a blob appears.

Yeah, the AMD FX-series seems to be quite the bottleneck sometimes. My underclocked FX-8350 (5% less multiplier due to temperature rising uncomfortably high despite having a massive aftermarket fan - didn't notice a performance hit from the UC, though) notably bottlenecks in many games, but it was a sensible upgrade two years ago because I could keep my MoBo (Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3). Next project for me (probably during the holiday season) will be moving to a new MoBo and an Intel CPU, so my GTX970 can finally breathe freely.

I'd be interested in recommendations, just like Lars3.

Memorable quotes not taken yet:

Of course, this ignores the non-constant cross-sectional first moment of area across the chest as well as non-constant material properties of the boob; it would be difficult to perform a more detailed analysis (as in, I'd have to have a shape function AND I'd need to derive a function for elastic modulus as a function of lateral breast coordinate) but whatever. It's 2am and I'm lazy.

I always believed science should be very hands on experience.

You should also answer this question I had posed in that thread: Would you be willing to pay your surgeon more if he was going to use a chainsaw for the opening incision of surgery? Clearly using a chainsaw isn't truly suited for surgery but that doesn't really matter. If he's "skilled" enough to be able to use the wrong tools of the trade, he should be rewarded for that skill right?

I5 4460 + cheapo mobo can be had for under £200.

Seriously though, a better graphics card will make a much bigger difference in any recent game that isn't running on a shit engine. None of the games I play at the moment present any kind of problem with my CPU.

It's impossible to predict, someone purchasing a 2500K in 2011 still has a CPU that can do pretty much anything intel's latest can, and with OC there's very little difference. If you bought a GTX 580 on the other hand you'd find it going relatively out of date pretty fast.

Yeah, good CPU lasts way longer with games. My brother is still playing with i7 930 and it has no trouble keeping up with games. Like Lucid said it's the GPUs that grow in performance constantly but one from higher-end should be able to run games decently well for some time. I can't imagine GTX 580 being "out-of-date" yet to be honest, unless you insist ultra graphics :v

So yeah, good i5 for ~250€ and 100€ mobo for that shouldn't be too expensive for you (eg. i5 6600 is 270€ on jimms)

Sorry if your name wasn't on the list, I honestly can't recall all names : ( . Nudge me if you want to be included
