1959 would be awesome. RPDs, m1 carbines, and all manner of awesome middle-of-the-century SMGs like the PPS, Owen gun, M3 Grease Gun, and Sterling

BF1942 2002 - CoD 2003
BF road to rome 2003 - Call of Duty Devil's Brigade cancelled 2008
BF Vietnam 2004 - Black Ops 2010
BF2 2005 - CoD 4 2007

CoD has been lagging behind all the time (and copying BF :D )... So we can expect a CoD korean conflict 1-6 years after BF makes one ;o

korea sounds good... Not as many lock on weapons etc... Though WW2 would be nice.. :> Or WW1... :P No one ever does WW1 except codename eagle and a BF1942 mod D;

It would never catch on with COD fans, K/D was really shitty back then. :P

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven from your flags, and read their lamentations in the chatbox. Lasagne are pretty awesome, too.

cod4 2007 - BFBC2 2010
mw2 2009 - bf3 2011

who's copying who? MW1 was inspired by more successful series, like counter strike and SOCOM for ps2. Battlefield was just a niche PC game before EA jacked it up as their big CoD competitor

I don't think trench warfare would translate well into fun gameplay though, and the vehicles of the time where somewhat limited too so IMO a WW1 BF wouldn't work out very well.
Forum Rules

Hey guys, lets all remember here that this is Symthic, and we are all mature enough to debate a topic without becoming emotional or insulting. Ad Hominim attacks only demonstrate that your position is weak and that you've run out of supporting evidence and serve to undermine your own position. I hope no one here drops to that level.

Maybe not a Battlefield game for WW1, but there should be a WW1 FPS at some point.

I'd like to see the a battlefield centering the Persian Gulf War.

Still pretty modern as it is in 1990, but that serves as a great platform to build off of.

Conveniently forgot about BF2 and that BF3 came out before MW3? Even BC1 which is kinda obvious to come out before BC2... Look at my post above For the real story about who really came first with the new generations between BF and CoD...

Well, there was plenty of artillery, jeeps, horses, fighters, bombers, and a about 2 tanks for each faction... You could go quite a bit with that. Could play out quite well actually, though the interest in WW1 isn't quite as large as WW2 and after

Still a WW1 shooter would be unique. Can you imagine it?
Frostbite 2 used to develop the most realistic looking mud in video gaming history. Such fun weapons as the Mosin Nagant, Lee Enfield, Barbed Wire and 100 damage, 750RPM Maxim gun. :D
