What if Battlefield 4, was set in the cold war?

I personally don't want to see another WW2 shooter for at least another 5 years. And the markets pretty saturated with modern shooters right now, so what about the cold war? Could be set in 1952 (Korea) 1956 (Suez with fictional Russian commandos?) Or a totally fictional conflict 1957 - 62. Things like antique jet fighters that look very retro - futuristic, the first generation if MBT's, weapon domination by high recoil battle rifles rather than assault rifles, plenty of odd-cool things from the era. Should allow the setting to be quite refreshing I feel.

Would be good but God struth would the COD community tear it apart with claims of it being a copy of Black Ops :pinch:

Frankly I loved the Cold War and BC2: Vietnam was brilliant so I'd love to see something like this :)

Well Viper you have a point, they'd probably say that, but at the same time BF did the modern era before COD. As did countless other games, same with ww2 so their claims would hold zero validity.

everything that happens there are conditions such that,
given them,
nothing else could happen.

Enemy Tu-95 above!
Enemy B-52 above!

Every player spawns there, and waits for the at least one of the of US or RU's president to say the magic word, but we all know what happened. No magic button was pressed, and America and Moscow slept soundly every night.

I had ths idea in that jet thread I think. Just give me an EE Lightning and a Vulcan to fly, I will be content.

IMO it would be good to have a fictional conflict, it wouldn't be hard to create because the whole world was on the brink of war at that time anyway and it would be a lot more fresh than Vietnam or anything like that. The era had plenty of interesting vehicles and weapons which would be more difficult to use than their modern equivelants, so I think it would be a fun game.

Hey guys, lets all remember here that this is Symthic, and we are all mature enough to debate a topic without becoming emotional or insulting. Ad Hominim attacks only demonstrate that your position is weak and that you've run out of supporting evidence and serve to undermine your own position. I hope no one here drops to that level.

I had.an idea about Korean war DLC/expansion when I was pretty new q member. I think 1959 would be ideal, pre M16, Lighting fighters, Vulcan and B52 bombers, Centurion tanks, De Lisle carbines, SLR's, M14's and maybe even sneak in the EM-2.

Cold War...mmm. Guns of the 60s...-drool-

No low magnification optics, an incentive to make ironsights that don't obscure your entire screen. Weapons of different calibers.... M14, AKM, M16A1, FAL, G3, HK33, A4 Skyhawks, Skyraiders, Cobras without laser guided stupidity, Huey gunships, MiG-19s, F86s, Hinds, Hips, Sterlings, Swedish Ks, Krinkovs, aaahhhhhh!

I'd be in gaming heaven.
