They all could easily be made right now...but no one is going to. It's just gonna be like a computer.

There's also the huge R&D costs for probably reduced sales with the current level of tech so why bother?

Because they have a reputation to upkeep, All next-gen consoles are released 6-7 years after their pre-decessor. If they waited close to 10 years by releasing it in 2014 or later, Im pretty sure they'd wouldn't sell half as much as the PS3/360.

Well, weren't devs informed of the 360 2 years before it was released, and the PS3 was shown in prototype two years before release also? It's only recently I believe there's been some rumor of devs getting a look at a prototype Ps4, no idea on Xbox which suggests release is far off yet.

PS2 released like a year before Gamecube and the first XBOX, So I'm guessing it will be the same this time around, I was honestly thinking PS4 would be out this holiday season but its looking like next year.
Valve can stick their dicks in my ass for all I care. Feels good man.

I wouldn't consider the Wii U next gen, it's actually considered less powerful than a PS3 or Xbox 360 by devs IIRC. Someone from Sony released rumours about the PS4 being called the Orbis, and using two 1GB AMD GPU's as well as an AMD 8 core processor for it's graphics, at the moment that would cost too much in a prebuild to be in the 'console' price range sweetpoint of around 300

Not really, mass production does wonders to the price.

Do you think it would make SUCH a difference that it would nullify having to pay employees and all other costs?

I really hope all the good things we have heard/speculating are true and then some. As of now, the technology on the 360 is nearly a decade old, it really sucks!(At least the UI is updated well IMO) But for me, I would have switched over to PC a while ago if it meant that I could keep my social experience I have on the Xbox. Unfortunately the people I know don't really have gaming PC's and in the end I game for one thing and one thing only; fun.
I love this forum, love it.. BUT more so as an observer than a contributor  Since this sig never seems to update here is the battlelog (add me if you'd like to game together!)

I read a trust-worthy and accurate Playstation magazine called 'Play'.

They anticipate that PS4 will be released on November of 2013.

Also, here are the specs that the magazine told about, although it may not be 100% accurate:

- '65nm chip that supports 32GB of DDR2 memory'

- 'eight fully functional Synergistic Processing Elements'

- Graphics Card: 'AMD Radeon HD 7670 will be clocked up to 1GHz with up to 1GB of dedicated VRAM.' - does this mean 60fps?

Also, they said that it's likely PS4 will be released BEFORE the next Xbox.

A lot of people thought they'd debut a prototype at E3 this year, before that 2013 seemed likely, seen as they didn't I highly doubt 2013 is possible. The PS3 debuted at E3 in 2005, the 360 at a dev conference in 2003, both two years before release and companies like hype and momentum before release of that type of product . Also a source inside Sony released similar but more powerful specs to Kotaku for the current prototype, which he called 'orbis', (assuming Kotaku can be trusted). Something along the lines of 28NM, an AMD 8 core and two 1GHz clocked, 1GB AMD GPU's.
