How would it have scarred you? It was my first legit anime and I don't think I'm scarred (well, unless you count the fact that I sat through all of The End of Evangelion without flinching, even the eaten alive scene as being "scarred").

By the way, Higurashi-related AMV Hell clips at 3:30 a.m. the night before (morning of?) a huge exam is great fun.
