They also recreated the orginal opening and it is bad ass.

Wow. I have not seen this yet, so thanks for linking that. It looks very neat!

That arc isn't over, by the way. They just cut it at a point which seems like an ending.
Yeah, i'd imagine a massive shitstorm if it ended with a such cliffhanger. :D But i suppose it's fine the way they did just in case the anime won't get a sequel. Though i hope it will.

GitS trailer feels very Hollywood... Motoko doesn't come off as badass and robotic as the animes, like she's yet another tragic and very much human.. And.. emotions?! oO Speaking about trusting people like some pathetic human... I'm not impressed. Not with Scarlet either...

But yeah, you'll probably like it more if you haven't watched the anime, that way you wouldn't get any disappointment when it's not the same ;o

btw, i never watched gits and was wondering, is the ship of theseus paradox/issue touched upon a lot in it? (i don't know if the cyborgs are actually robots or, in fact, cyborgs, so base human transformed into sorta-robots)

There are the classic robot servants and then humans. Most humans have replaced at least a couple of parts or everything except their brains.

Speaking of live-action films, here is the trailer for the upcoming Japanese adaptation of "Fullmetal Alchemist".

This series happens to be one that I did not watch either, so my question is whether the war portrayed is analogous to the First World War or the Second World War?

The level of technology is closer to WWI but it's about magic alchemy and it's not analogous to much.

Haha. I have only read a bit of the manga when someone lent me a volume.

Does the German Empire equivalent lose at the end as it did in actual history?

Fullmetal Alchemist is not a World War story.

It is not a war story at all.

At no point in the story do the main characters participate in a war.

Arguably, there were no "wars" at all. Just genocide after genocide.

With this, I'll rid MGO3 of infestation. Sans bad gameplay MGO3 will be torn asunder. And then it shall be free. People will suffer, of course - a phantom pain.

Reddit and Konami will rewrite the records... And I will be demonized in human memory. But... The thirst for good gameplay that I have planted will infest MGO3. No one can stop it now. The Rebalance Mod will unleash that thirst unto the future.

iirc FMA is set somewhere in the 19th century. There's a war, but it's just a background, the plot isn't about war at all.

Exactly. The story does not need to focus on the conflicts in the background at all. I was simply asking about that specific aspect of the setting for the series in order to get to know if it was analogous to anything in the real world.

It is not a war story at all.

I perfectly understand what you mean by that, as that is not the focus of "Fullmetal Alchemist". One of my favourite anime films in terms of the setting, “The Place Promised in Our Early Days”, features a fictional modern war between the Soviet Union and the United States as the backdrop for which a simpler love story occurs.

Oh, i see now. No, not really, it's purely fictional Just permanent conflicts with neighbours and civil war hence all that military stuff. Apart from fuhrer as a country leader i can hardly see any resemblance
