I don't get this nazi shit
Just a simple rule change. There is nothing even slightly nazi-ish about this

Grammar nazis, my friend. J35T3R is afraid.

Honestly I have never even seen anyone except myself use any font effects other than the defaults... I agree about the rule, but I don't think it's even something to be concerned about.

The World Champion never paid attention to rules to even know what has been changed.
You have just read a Post by The World Champion and now feel smarter for doing so.

I've seen a few newer members use it in a post or two just to draw attention to said post. It's really distracting and people don't read it--but new members wouldn't know that.

It's not really a problem here, but it's been a huge problem on other forums. It's really obnoxious and unprofessional (assuming the internet is supposed to be mature, anyways).

I agree, i've seen it get out of hand on a lot of forums, I guess having the rule in place is fine, doubt it will ever need enforced luckily.

Even if everything was strictly enforced, dumbasses will be dumbasses. It doesn't matter how many times we set them right, it's highly unlikely they'll change.

That statement wasn't aimed at the new guys on symthic.

Plus: What can't be changed can be banned.

this system is flexible and Users may be granted more or less warnings before a ban
IMO this is a problem. Everyone should get three strikes (+2 I guess?) regardless of the situation. If an incident is not big enough to warrant a strike, don't give them one. Flexibility in this matter could cause some inequalities in the ways certain members have been treated based on reputation/seniority.

Would it make sense to have a more strict enforcement of Rule 5 in the Technical section and more leeway elsewhere?

Now guests, who by far are the most numerous users of Symthic and don't even have 'Ignored users' at their disposal, and Symthicians alike need to slog through numerous BL-like posts to come across the few that are informative. As pointed out in the wiki thread, the problem of symthic is that the real information - be it data or educated analyses of data - becomes buried and lost in the endless sea of threads and posts.

That is exactly my problem these days. In years past the posting volume was low and the information easy to get. These days a thread has 5+ pages and the informational value is the same as before .. but you have to read too many posts. I have no idea how to fix that, I guess it's just the burden of popularity.
