BF4 and BF3 turreted vehicles have always had acceleration, negative acceleration.

Hop into a tank. move your mouse SLOWLY, notice how far the turret rotates.

Now hop into the tank, and move your mouse extremely FAST ( but cover the same distance on mousepad ) notice that the turret turns significantly LESS.

This has been true for the entirely of BF3 and BF4.

the high-tickrate servers screwed with how the turreted vehicles were responding to inputs, no idea why.

This has been one of the fundamentals of turreted vehicles.

Personally I'd like it to stay this way because I've been used to it since BF3, I'd be beneficial for me to keep that experience level.

However, it'd be MUCH better for the game, and for the vast majority of the playerbase, if this was fixed. It's a significant barrier to higher-level vehicle play and the only solution is lots of experience with it, given that most people don't purely play vehicle-only, it really prevents most players from getting half-decent in tanks.

So don't worry! this doesn't change things for you.

BF4 and BF3 turreted vehicles have always had acceleration, negative acceleration.

Hmm are you suuuure about this and that it just wasn't a limit? Because on top of the mouse input tweaks they also increased number of rotation-related values in many of the vehicles, see this for an example. Other turret-able tanks include similar changes but also decreases in some of the RotationObjects, but the one with "AngularMomentumMultiplier 120.0 -> 400.0" seems to be somewhat common.

Wasn't talking about the changes or the patch, simply responding to Vipers concerns about acceleration on tanks being introduced. it's always effectively been there. In live gameplay, that's functionally what you get, you're never not moving your turret in response to things, and it instantly hits the thresholds leading to the turret moving Different distances for the same hand movement, ( specifically it moves less for the same movement ) the patch presumably altered the thresholds for when stuff happens, but I didn't address that, just that it's not a new fundamental concept.
