Scout Heli + Stingers

Alright, slight rage at this and just need to know if its working as intended or is there something wrong.

Is it just me or is the ability to fire stigulas out of the side seats just a little ridiculous? No matter what I tried I just kept getting creamed by the enemy chopper that had heatseekers and a rep monkey with a stinger. dude fires the stinger, I pop my flares, as soon as they're out I eat another stinger plus the full payload heatseekers and *POOF* im a pile of smoldering scrap metal. Im not sure of the exact damage total of 1 stinger + 2 heatseekers but if its not 100% its damn close to it. Ive tried flares, Ive tried ECM, Ive tried gyro to be able to return fire after I get hit, Ive tried stealth to buy me an extra second or two before I get shafted again. Everything had the same result, death. This entire scenario just reminds me of the "good old days" of machine gun barreling the staff shell and how if you weren't running it you were hosed. I know in this case it takes the modicum of teamwork to have 2 guys in a heli but damn, it just seems to be an unstoppable rape train if you cant manage to get behind some form of cover before your ECM runs out and recharges or manage to spin around and drop them before they can fire the fatal salvo. And dont get me started on double stingers in the scout heli......So, is this the case of something that needs to be changed or just "get gud"?

TL;DR - Stingers in Scout heli are just as unbalanced as machine gun barreling the STAFF shell.

I completely agree. DICE should just get block all gadget usage in the side seats, that would balance the scout helis as agile aircraft with light weapons and the ability to transport a few soldiers, instead of the flying tanks they can be at the moment.

This should go in hand with a general rebalance/fix of countermeasures and AA weapons.

I favor the above, the reason that Attack Helicopters have to be winged coffins is that surface-to-air has to be balanced on the assumption that the Scout heli will have at least one repair guy.

I wouldn't mind this, if AA was reasonably balanced. The whole thing is designed to take on Scouts with repair guys so Attack Helis are just wrecked by it.

This tactic is not widely abused from my experience. In fact I have never seen this occur firsthand.

Unless it is remedied, you are left with these options: fork over the heli to another pilot and deal with them from the ground (heck, just ignore them and capture/ defend some objectives) or exit the server.

Repair whores can do whatever they like to try and sustain their flying fortress, but it just ends up giving me a multi-kill for my glorious UCAV.

the Sebstalder is quiet good since it can 3hit kill at any distanc ,but In my opinion i actually thikn the sweeper is better, its got a really really fast firerate that can beat alll those Noobmaticos, Helregall adn shitguns in close quarters , and its also really accurate out to like l;ong range,. overall great allround gun, jsut my 2$ tho

I find that a lot of Scout Heli pilots I end up facing are very cocky, so I just goad them into SMAW range and 1HKO them before their rep chimps can even bail out.

I like that DICE rewards teamwork in those vehicles, and I don't think it should be nerfed any further than it is. Mostly because its never a problem for me.

If anything, I would like to see the ability for players in the side seat to look forward be removed. It would still be possible to use gadgets in the side seats (even stingers) but in order for the rep monkey to be able to fire a stinger the pilot would have to turn to the side, something that would both prevent the pilot from shooting at the enemy heli for a short time and it would also make the heli a bigger target and expose the rep monkey more.

It's absolutely broken.

The counter to it is even cheesier, fly sideways. Missiles that fly into the door of the heli go through it without hitting then loop harmlessly. Beating a broken mechanic with a bug, makes sense.

It's not ok because "teamwork is stronger." It's as if the gunner seat in the tank had a second cannon that did more damage than the driver's cannon and reloaded five times faster.

Passenger seat view constraints were 60 degress in any direction in BF3. In BF4 it's 80 degrees up or down, and 100 degrees forward or back. That's probably the easiest thing to change that might help.

Aye, this has been discussed before. I brought it up a long time ago, as the flying AA tank taking out all jets and choppers on its way. The fact that the indirect fire perk comes with resupply unit doesn't help either, cause now there's no ammo box to destroy.. the passengers can get unlimited ammo anyways.

I agree with the posts above, the first thing to try would be to very aggressively reduce the passenger FOV. Both looking forward together with the pilot is ridiculous. The same applies to transport helicopters btw, minigun convergence makes it a flying double scout machine. In this case though it's a fucking slow and big target so it's not hard to kill using any other aircraft or AT launchers
