BF4 Population

Since some of you seem to have access to certain esoteric bits of information about BF4 (I have those weapon popularity charts in mind when I say that), I'm curious if anyone knows where I can find information about the game's sales and numbers of active players... preferably in a nice, handy line graph.

I was thinking of writing a blog using BF4 as a case study in video game development/PR.... "mishaps," and am interested to know how the game's various bugs affected sales and player abandonment of the title. I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be nearly as many active servers as there used to be, so I'm trying to see whether that's just a natural result of the novelty wearing off, or of perma-ragequits.

If anyone is able to find this information for me, I'd also ask them where I can locate find the same data on other, similar titles- BF3, Bad Company 2, the CODs, etc.- so that I can see what a normal dropoff rate looks like.

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure there was a page showing peak and average per day on bf4db.com but I can't find it

I'm almost afraid that this entire blog is going to be grossly skewed. Especially since the majority of whining for BF4 insofar has been shown to be about technical decisions/limitations (netcode!). It's hard to call this stuff "PR mishaps" when they're trying to cater and appease rabid players.

I think we're on the same page about PR and technical problems, though my semantics may have been inaccurate.

The method I had in mind was going to be to look at the relative difference in player dropoff between BF4 and other titles, and chart that over a timeline in which bug appearances, bug fixes, and "player appreciation" events are noted. Unless I'm overlooking something, I think it should be pretty objective.

bf4stats.com has current players online right on the front page. You could track that each day. Don't know about historical data, they might have it but you would have to contact them.

For sales that depends on EA and what info they release.

You can find some numbers for BF4 Here
For comparison sake BF3 Here

EA claims quality didn't affect sales.

And by the way, since I'm a stranger here and the word "bias" has already been used, I just thought I should let you guys know that I'm not just some Barbara Walters wannabe who's looking to do some sensationalist lid-blowing expose about how the video game industry is raping our wallets. I am an actual player with 200 hours logged, and you can see my profile here: Coldside_Ramrod - Battlelog
/ Battlefield 4

If anything, I'd have an interest in keeping servers going, rather than convincing people not to play. So. Just reassuring y'all that I'm strictly interested in the objective data.

you forgot that bf3 had lots of sales and it even appeared on the humble bundle,to not say that it got released nearly 3 years ago...

bf4stats.com has current players online right on the front page.

BF4 stats only shows online players that have been added to its database. For example if you bought the game and never searched for your account stats on BF4stats, then you aren't in their database and won't show as one of the online players.
