The ARs and pdws and carbines have a wimpy 30 mag, sometimes you just gotta use all 100 rounds in one go

While that is true, the advantages of carbines are faster ADS speed and speed in general as well as better moving accuracy and hip fire. In hectic situations carbines will perform better.

I'm not saying they are bad to use but just don't use them and die and go complaining to the forums to buff buff cry cry etc etc.

While i cant argue with the M60 champ, i don't think we should let people have the wrong idea that its the best of the heavy LMGs. I have used it too, its accuracy at long range rivals that of DMRs, but against good players you gotta stick to carbines anyway or you will get wrecked :(

Fair point.
I wasn't saying the other LMGs are bad, I was just fighting the M60's corner :)

I do, however, disagree with the implication that carbines should be used against skilled players. Whereas the carbines do have a lot going for them I can't help but point you back to the LMGs; particularly the mostly >1 FSM, massive magazines and better long range damage. Carbines seem to have gained a reputation that I can't agree with as the ultimate weapon for all kits, I mean they're good and sure they may be the saving grace of the Engineer and Recon classes but I think that the Support's LMGs are too widely varied to be cast aside for a carbine…

On the contrary, the massive magazine the LMGs have let's them take down multiple targets without reloading. The Mg4 boasts a RPM of 800, the M240B has one of the best TTK ingame, the M60 is like someone jammed an Ak-12 into a Scar-H and then gave it a drum mag, the RPK is one of the most accurate guns in the game and most LMGs have crazy-low FSM.

Yes, carbines have better hipfire and moving spreads and usually higher rpm, but as someone who religiously uses both LMGs and carbines, do not under estimate the LMGs. When you duck around the corner to reload, he'll probably still have 150 rounds in his mag. And CQC aside, LMGs may be one of the best full-auto weapons at range.

The last time I heard someone begging for Dice to buff the LMGs was months ago on Battlelog. They're fine and with a wide variety of stats.

I'd like to go on record by saying I like you already :)

Not having to reload in close proximity for 45-200 rounds beats better hip-fire any day. And when you do need to reload you are generally safe because you had enough ammo to kill everyone threatening you while they reloaded their silly Carbines, PDWs, or Assault Rifles 8) (I ignore DMRs because who would attempt to use one of those within 50 meters XD. Oh yeah...right. Never mind). Less reloading + access to the XM25, UCAV, and infinite ammo = best BF4 class.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

I love the M60, it's my go-to gun. I use irons, angled or folding, and hbar. It's a beast in tight due to TTK, and a nail driver at range. I'm surprised more people don't use it.
I see that you have a lot of kills with the M60. However, I'd like you to consider using anything but the angled grip. Less recoil seems good, but in practice it will make compensating for recoil more difficult because of the even greater difference between first and second shot recoils.

What do you recommend? I usually tap fire, so recoil is resetting constantly. I'm not a mag dumped, so I might not get the right use out of the stubby, so I guess ergo/vertical?

If you don't mag-dump a lot (aka twice a round) and only tap fire, consider the ergo grip. If you micro burst as well as tap fire, take stubby. Both grips are not particularly useful, due to spread not really being an issue when tapfiring, so I chose the ergo grip for my loadout.

I'd like to go on record by saying I like you already :)

Yeap. Unless you're in a situation where you need the better hipfire and higher RPM carbines like the ACW-R and MTAR, Supports using any other carbine should be dragged out into the street and publicly shamed

LMG's need to get fi - Forums - Battlelog
/ Battlefield 4

Battlelog is full of these kind of people XD

OT, the only things I don't like about the M60 is the 1) increased Hrecoil and 2) lack of extended mags, because
1) In bf3, the gun had 0.5 ADS spread with 0.4 total Hrecoil. Now it has 0.3 ADS spread with 0.7 total Hrecoil. If you do the math, the BF4 M60 isn't that much more accurate compared to its BF3 counterpart.
2) You know what's better than an M60E4 LMG? An LMG with 200 rounds
