What do we know about the M26 Mass and M320 Dart in terms of stats? Personal Experiences? Discussion

I was playing around today with the M320 Dart, and holy shit does that thing get the job done. Obviously with the reload speed it's only good for one guy, but it was super reliable. The Mass on the other hand I'm having a lot more trouble with. Do we have stats on these weapons? I imagine the M320 Dart has to have quite a few pellets but a bad cone, but I'm especially wondering about the M26 in comparison to the shotguns.

I remember that someone posted the stats for them at one point: just don't remember when.
Either way, had to use the MASS for the Wall of Shotgun assignment, and surprisingly enough, it got the job done like a primary shotgun would. Cleaned out an entire squad once that was holed up in a staircase: couldn't stop grinning for the next few minutes or so.

My personal experience is that i played a round of domination on paracel storm once with the m26 slug almost exclusively and absolutely demolished people with it. pocket sniper rifle ftw.

then i put it on a gun underslung, and i realized that the sight becomes SEVERELY misaligned in all scenarios (way below the point of impact) and i cried, long and hard.

(or maybe its the other way around, its fine underslung and fucked up non underslung)

Its shit like this that makes me not want to ever play bf4, and just play fallout new vegas or chivalry medieval warfare instead, which is what i'm doing now. I mean, how can something like a sight that isnt aligned correctly pass QA testing? and no, its not even just misaligned while strafing like other guns...standing still, its all fucked. like the old mtar sights. would be a fantastic gadget if it werent for that.

The M26 mass is a liability in "Core". In hardcore though, its just as excellent as it was in BF3 (hardcore) it puts people down in 1 shot... In Core it HARDLY gets a 1 shot kill and with the prospect of body armor you must use the M26 darts. Even in this regard, the M26 hardly nets a OHK and you'll probably be killed while pumping the next shell into the chamber. Furthermore, i believe the M26 shoudl be barrelmounted and ADS is required to even have a hope of getting all the vital projectiles on target.

EDIT: The M320 darts were really fun to use in that Naval Strike assignment and put people down consitently, the satisfying THUMP left me grinning ear to ear. But then agian... the regular 320 has better utility if you were to gimp yourself from using a medkit/shock paddles... in which case medkit is vastly preferred to prolong your own life... though its frustrating not being able to pick up fallen comrades.

You need 6 pellets to kill with buckshot. You need 7 if your target has armor. It's a gadget. You're not supposed to use it as a primary. If you cannot hit 7 pellets out of 12 at close range, you're doing something wrongly.

In normal,
M26 Buck damage with Body Armor = 15.3, so 7 pellets to kill.
M26 Dart damage with Body Armor = 12.5, so 8 pellets to kill.

M26 Dart is more accurate but up close that doesn't really matter. The choice is penetration vs. damage vs. unarmored targets.
Penetration isn't a huge advantage, usually you can get off the second shot.
6 pellets to kill with Buck vs. 8 to kill with Dart without Body Armor is huge. Half of your shot needs to hit. Half. That's significant.

Also, Buck has an easier time picking off injured targets.


M26 MASS is just better.


(Also, it's my most-kills weapon at 8SS, so that's neat)


Sidenote--Dart is better than Buck in HC because you can use it over range more easily due to the better damage and the accuracy matters more than the close-range damage at that point.

Well then my experience was most likely marred by early netcode issues when I was attempting to unlock the shotgun class with the M26 Mass under the impression it counted...
I had a terrible time getting OHK even ADS (which like i said, is essential to get those crucial projectiles on target) it just seemed like i left EVERY ecounter dead while the other guy had something to the tune of 8hp-16hp.

Edit: No doubt the M26 MASS works wonders in hardcore with no issues whatsoever. I only advocate the use of darts because in most situations you'd want to roll with the M26 people have a nasty habbit of spawning on people you just killed simultaneously or.... you're flanking multiples and the guy you initially kill soaks up some of the follow-up buckshot..

They recently nerfed Body Armor which significantly increased the viability of Buckshot. That could've contributed to your early problems.
