Aim assist on console versions is point and click regardless of the range.

(where the hell did video embedding go?)

That's just terrible. I always play without aim assist on every shooter, because... well... I wanna shoot myself.

I wouldn't even mind it if it would be a server setting, but no - you're always at a disadvantage. Most pros to not using it are gone in BF4.

I sympathize with your statements as I too prefer to disable Aim Assist. However, when doing so you are drastically leaving yourself at a disadvantage to other players who have it activated. And since it is massively overpowered, it allows players with less than adequate weapon controllability to outperform you.

I wrestled with this concept in BF3 and I determined to disable the "easy mode" function but it severely affected my performance in-game and it became aggravating in reality.

When it came to BF4 I decided I would simply play to enjoy the game rather than prove my skill, so Aim Assist has remained enabled since the Beta. I have discovered that I emerge victorious from most firefights since I have that dreaded handicap and exceptional weapon handling abilities that most players seem to not attain (This is reference to weapon knowledge -tap firing, bursting, choosing proper engagements, etc).

I hope this helps address your concern and allows you to enact on a proper decision depending on how you desire to play the game.
I don't always shit in a bucket, but when I do it's during Battlefield

I would like to have BF3 aim assist system. In BF4 many, many times I'm aiming at a guy, a guy behind him crosses the screen and my aim is pulled off the guy I was aiming at, and I usually die when doing so.

In other words, this game's code looks like it's written by 5 year old kiddo compared to how DICE did things with BF3.

The aim assist in bf4 is definitely more pronounced than bf3. It's pretty sad that ill actually spam ads a few times if I think I see an enemy moving through some bushes ahead of me. It seems way more noticeable on the test range target, but maybe that's because they're stationary or there's not anything else going on nearby.

Actually no. It differed from patch to patch but BF3 had this snapping function (since Close Quarters DLC I think). It only worked at close range so maybe that's why you didin't noticed it.

I'm not too sure about BC2. There was a >video< about an old guy playing it and he does this ADS spamming which leads me to thinking that it was there already. It certainly wasn't as pronounced though and I'd say playing without aim assist was beneficial to most.

Actually... I think that's it. I remember this BF4 add with an old Swedish man being the game tester. Maybe they adjusted the assist based on his playstyle... Just watched it, he was playing on a mouse. Hmmmm...

Perhaps it's different on Test Range/Singleplayer and Multiplayer? I'm gonna try it with friends, but I would assume that even if Singleplayer differs from Multiplayer, the Test Range would have the same assist as Multiplayer. If that's not the case they should change it.

Itīs way too strong. The problem is that it functions for every range. It is also too strong in CQB but in longer ranges it becomes pretty much a complete aimbot if the target is not moving too fast.
I had a few kills where I only had to ADS and shoot and killed a moving target without touching the stick !?!
Another completely ridiculous thing in BF4 and the 2nd console exclusive one, yeah...

It's in the game because DICE have looked at their "telemetry" and can see that 95% of the player base use it, even the some of ones who say they don't.

I use it, come at me bro.

I hate the aim assist. I wish they removed it or toned it down a bit.
