BF4 Beta Bugs

Thread hasn't been made yet. Please post bugs here and if found a solution to them and a way to reproduce them. This list has been mirrored to Battlelog in the Bugs and Issues section. Link here .



Master List of Bugs


-Game-breaking-(8 )

-Game crash upon loading into level/before the loading screen ends. Not all users are affected. For me this issue was solved when I fully updated windows, but the problem seems to be stemming from multiple sources.
-Game crash upon alt-tabbing from window. Not all users are affected.
-Some players will deploy and still be stuck in the deployment screen even though they've spawned into the game.
-The elevators can sometimes still be used after the skyscraper collapses, allowing players to teleport to the top of the building and parachute down. (This also works on vehicles)
-The master volume in game may reset to default values even when the volume slider is still at its a lower setting than max. This will eventually end up with the user not being able to have sound on at all.
-Receiving or accepting friend requests while in game can crash the game.
-After the recent patch the game becomes unstable when being revived and may crash.
-Attempting to play BF4 on an Intel Core2 is almost entirely impossible. (Optimization problem, not a bug as no fatal error is received)


-Major-(24)

-Spawning in the uncap of A flag on Siege of Shanghai. The player has just enough time to return to within the map boundary.
-Major framerate drops from various sources. (Vehicle use, explosions, fast movement, being knifed.)
-Spawn menu does not work well with vehicles:
-You may spawn at deployment even with a vehicle spawn selected
-If you select a vehicle spawn before the vehicle becomes available it will spawn you at deployment, even after the vehicle becomes available.
-You may see a vehicle icon available for spawn, but the vehicle is not spawned and you will spawn in its location on foot.
-Grenades can clip through elevator doors to kill the players inside. This could cause some potentially bad camping situations that can't be countered.
-Sometimes when a player is killed they will be stuck on the death screen and unable to respawn.
-When joining on friends from battlelog the game can force you into a squad that is already full, breaking the squad spawn mechanics entirely.
-Free look may get you "stuck" in a freecam when in a helicopter, which disables your controls and makes it impossible to fly.
-Being revived causes various issues from being unable to accept the revive, being stuck in third person, or the game crashing.
-Sometimes when trying to switch between or to gadgets the user is unable to do so.
-Being revived while customizing a weapon in the menu freezes the player, disabling all buttons and controls.
-Spawning on teammates can cause the player who spawned to be "dead" but still able to be knifed.
-The Fast Attack boats spawn at random points on the map instead of the designated spawn point. (They spawn on building roofs, streets, inside of rooms, etc)
-All vehicle bugs return from BF3 (seat switching, sprint bug, zoom optics, etc).
-When using a controller to fly helicopters on the PC version, controls cannot be remapped and free look cannot be un-bound, causing multiple flight problems, including only being able to do certain maneuvers one at a time.
-Recon class only allows you to use your primary and secondary until your first death after equipping a carbine (AK5C).
-Running into another vehicle with an IFV can cause massive damage to the IFV (83%).
-All helicopters fly at roughly 125 except for the Viper which can reach 160, giving it a massive speed advantage over all other helicopters.
-When inside the elevator of the main skyscraper on Siege of Shanghai as the building falls, you will be randomly teleported to a different elevator exit.
-Squad perks have no effect if you spawn directly into a vehicle.
-Enemy and friendly players may be seen crouched, looking the wrong direction, or in the ground as their player model as not loaded correctly. (Major because it makes enemies VERY hard if not impossible to hit.)
-Shooting pilots out of the Scout and Transport helicopters is incredibly inconsistent and seems to change frequently, sometimes allowing you to hit them and sometimes totally negating damage to the pilot when shooting the glass.



-Moderate-(32)

-Vehicle "dusting" returns. Tank shells/RPG projectiles may hit but not register on other vehicles, most common with helicopters. This may not be able to be fixed.
-Vaulting over obstacles may result in the player flying forward at a high rate of speed. A similar bug exists in BF3 but this time the player takes no damage from it.
-Player and gun models can clip through the edges of the elevators, revealing the player to those inside the elevator and giving away your position.
-Tank cannon reticle is misaligned up to 400 meters. (This somewhat applies to sniper tracers as well, which can pass through a player with no hit.)
-Some objects that appear destructible are not.
-Pressing B can open the command console.
-Explosive rounds from the Milkor MGL can pass through rubble from the fallen skyscraper.
-The Chinese transport helicopter spawns much slower than all other vehicles.
-There has been one report of someone jumping off of the skyscraper as an engineer and when the parachute was pulled their kit switched to Assault.
-The QBS-09 and 870MCS uses 5 or 8 ammo (respectively) per shell reloaded into the gun. (Console Only)
-Players may not be able to turn in Conquest Domination until their gun model fully loads.
-The M82A3 battle pickup may randomly be lost from a players loadout by knifing (possibly other actions as well). When the player is revived the gun returns.
-When the enter/exit vehicle key is rebound, you can still exit vehicles from any seat other than the drivers seat with E.
-When out of ammo with your primary weapon the game does not switch you to your secondary, but when out of ammo with both your secondary and primary weapons, it automatically switches you back to your primary weapon.
-Switching squads can sometimes bring the player back to the spawn menu.
-The game has a hard time matching the inputs of joysticks and does not map keys properly.
-The M1 Abrams turning is extremely sensitive compared to the T99.
-Elevator doors seem to give the players inside a small moment of invulnerability.
-The USAS-12 and M82A3 battle pickups can sometimes be resupplied by ammo packs.
-The Chinese IFV may spawn in the uncap behind the Chinese spawn point, the only way to solve this is to run into the uncap and drive it out or destroy the IFV.
-You can "jump" the bollards on the bridges if you charge at them in a tank or IFV fast enough.
-Vaulting over certain terrain requires multiple attempts and you may get stuck on obstacles that you should be able to clear (this returns from BF3).
-Players can clip through vehicles at certain angles.
-Hitboxes of players can be missing or nonexistent while in the process of knifing.
-Scout helicopter aiming reticle becomes very inaccurate and misaligned when changing altitude.
-When revived with the XM-25 equipped you can have permanent thermal/IR vision.
-Helicopters may disappear under the map if landed in an uncap zone.
-Sprinting when turning may stop your soldier sprinting all together.
-When being revived you can get up and move without accepting the revive.
-When you decline a revive you will not see the spawn menu until you hit escape twice. Similar to dying after a revive.
-Sometimes when standing on C flag rubble a water splash appears on the players screen even on land when they are shot, covering most of the screen and obscuring vision.
-When vaulting objects the soldier may switch to prone instead of jumping over the obstacle.


-Minor-(27)

-Gunshot sounds can be heard within the elevator from both ends.
-Game becomes unstable when trying to exit from the end of round screen.
-Borderless windowed mode does not work and defaults to 720p windowed instead.
-RPGs and Grenades (and possibly other explosives) detonate immediately after being fired from certain parts of the map. This does not cause any damage to the player.
-Loadouts may potentially reset at random.
-Some users are unable to kick players from their squad.
-Kit selection is reset to Assault at the beginning of each round.
-Scope zoom and magnifiers reset upon death.
-Fire modes on weapons reset at the beginning of each round.
-Fire button will not work when it is bound to accept revives as well.
-Rebinding keys may change graphical options.
-Mouse sensitivity is extremely dull and requires a high setting to be responsive. (This may be influenced by player preference, mouse settings, and Windows settings.)
-Reloading while toggling the magnifier or variable zoom can mix up the zoom of the two attachments. X & X
-The scope on the M82A3 battle pickup can lose it's zoom at random.
-The Venom's minigun sights are hold to ADS while the Z-9 has toggle ADS controls for its minigun.
-Players may be counted as dead in squad even after spawning.
-Switching the variable zoom or magnifier setting will turn pistol lights on and off as well.
-Some players will not see a spawn screen after dying. Solved by pressing escape twice.
-Pressing 7 in game opens the battlelog window, with no way to unbind the key.
-Some weapons cannot have their iron sights selected from ingame if another sight is equipped, the iron sights are a "Battlepack Item". These sights can be changed on the Battlelog website still.
-Some attachments can be equipped to a weapon without using the required attachment. (Magnifier, Canted Iron Sights, Variable Zoom)
-Players will lose the charge on their defibs if they charge them while parachuting upon touching the ground, this wastes the defib charge.
-The Canted Ironsights on the RFB are misaligned. Shots land up and left of the front sight.
-The game does not remap buttons to the mouse well with some drivers.
-The XM-25 may rarely zoom in more every time you ADS.
-At the end of the round if you're in a helicopter (presumably jets as well) you will lose control of the vehicle and crash as the game fades to the results screen, usually killing the player and counting as a death.
-The voice cues in Obliteration are reversed, when an enemy objective is destroyed, it will tell you how many objectives you have left to defend.
-Healing players with medipacks awards no points.



-Visual Only-(23)

-Some GUI elements in the end of round screen appear too big for the window and may cover up buttons on the screen.
-When "Always show chat" is enabled, the chat shows up in the menus, obstructing other parts of the GUI.
-Tall soldier glitch: X
-Various Physics glitches similar to those in BF3 Beta: X
-The M26 MASS is sometimes missing the red dot in the middle of its sight. The effect lasts until the player dies.
-Knife can appear floating in front of the player when swimming in the water.
-The label for Crimson Woodland camo reads 'WARSAWOB_ID_P_CAMO_DESC_CRIMSON_WOODLAND' instead of its proper name.
-When changing an emblem the in-game soldier model textures may break.
-Textures have trouble loading. (Xbox only so far)
-When in spectator mode the HUD of the player you're following will not show up until you hit escape twice, this needs to be done once per round to view player HUDs.
-Range finder on the M82A3 is glitchy and may stay behind after the weapon is used.
-The XM25 will only display 4 of 5 rounds reloaded from an empty reload. Tapping the reload key will make the 5th round show up.
-Switching the magnifier or variable zoom on and off too fast changes the tooltip at the bottom of the screen but does not change the attachment on the gun.
-Death cam may swing wildly sometimes, this may be caused by the enemy player jumping or changing direction rapidly.
-Sometimes xp credited at the end of the round is categorized as 'NaN'.
-The ERDL Snow camo can be unlocked but not equipped.
-The Xbox 360 version of the game has multiple rendering and texture issues, slow loading of textures, and low draw distances. (possibly the limitations of the console)
-Weapons may become invisible after counter knifing an enemy, weapons do still function.
-If you are knifed while in ADS the animation is shown at that magnification.
-In-game hints still show up in spectator mode as if the spectator was playing.
-When reloading the M320 as you enter a vehicle you will fire a blank shell as you exit said vehicle. (Returning BF3 bug)
-When an enemy is capturing a flag you are on the progress bar appears to show that you are capping the flag instead.
-The colored used on Battlelogs emblem creator do not match those displayed in game.


-Battlelog Bugs-(4)

-When in queue to join a game, the queue may not update and you won't join the game, even with space in the server, refreshing the page and rejoining solves this.
-Some battlereports don't save. This is a large amount of them. (In my experience out of 5 games only 1 saved.)
-Filtering servers to show only Unranked servers still shows Ranked only.
-Descriptions for attachments cannot be seen on Battlelog.

Bugs I've found:

"Dusting" returned
Seemed to able to replicate the flying forward when vaulting action that occured in places on Firestorm or Metro trains, except no damage taken
Spawn in the no-spawn area on A flag (CQL)
When the elevator is in use, and you attempt to surprise them by standing directly infront of it, they can see your gun
The gun sounds and bullets hitting outside (from the top of the destination at least) can be heard while the elevator is in use from inside
Crashes when alt-tab

Well, I was posting my experience, and my assumption is based off of the rest of the players on battlelog with the same issues, who are generally AMD users from what I can see. DICE has said nothing specific to confirm this problem exists, only that they "Know there are issues with the client". So far backdating to 327.23 drivers and back up to the new beta drivers has done nothing, about to give up until tomorrow.

are we only going with gamebreaking/crash bugs, or just bugs in general?

if the latter:
-game tends to have issues shutting down from the endgame screen
-endgame screen has elements that are too large, with buttons hidden behind the scorecharts
-borderless window does not work, defaults to regular 720p window
-tank cannon is misaligned for all ranges within 400 meters. reticle is accurate after 400 meters
-some objects that appears to be able to be shot through, can't. found out the hard way by blowing myself up with RPGs
-framerate drops when operating vehicles. very noticeable in tank/IFV gunner seats, attack helis

This quote was edited recently in the BF4 Beta Bug thread on Battlelog.

If you are affected by a Freeze or a Crash upon joining a game, and the error message “BF4 Beta has stopped working” appears, please make sure your Windows is fully updated and your [i]Graphic card is running on its latest driver. Alternatively, some players using GeForce drivers were able to fix this by downgrading their driver to an earlier version.
