when you run and jump in air, is that speed obtained while in air, faster than just running? if yes, by how much?

when you run and jump forward, is that speed obtained while in air, faster than just running? if yes, by how much?

If not, why does it seem to happen much quicker?

say you are behind a wall, and the enemy comes through door, if he just runs in, you can track, if he runs and jump slides in (run, jump, let go of all motion keys, slide) my perception is that it happens faster.

jumping isn't any faster than running, not in a perceivable way at least, although it is faster than running trough water, and the hitbox it's somewhat weird when jumping, especially if you do a crouch jump or similar.

In BF3 jumping with 1-2 steps in between was faster than normal running by about 0.4 m/s full sprint (no perk)

Early BF4 it was still faster to jump but the landings slowed you down and you needed several steps to "recharge", making the bunny jump sprinting fairly redundant and only slightly faster than normal running over long distances...

No clue how it is now after all the changes back and forth...

running is not faster with jumping, but I was wondering if just the jump itself might be faster, and then when you hit the ground you slow down a bit, to make it on average, balance out to same speed as running.

Its just when someone corner jumps, they seem to be going so fast that you cannot follow them nearly as well as if they just ran out from the corner........

is it just glitching the animation or something?

like say i run jump, if I do it right, I can end up BEHIND the guy, that basically never happens with just running thru a doorway....

there has to be something going on with run jumping(+-sliding) thru doorways versus just running????

As in the video KDNS linked (which you should totally watch—the guy in charge of that channel has very good information), some things on jumping:

1) It makes you a lot harder to hit. You're not much faster (and you can be slower if you do it too much), but it makes it difficult to anyone get a quick 100% acc burst out on you with the crappy MV most guns have

2) Jumping before cornering can cause the "ZouZou jump" glitch, which makes you very difficult to hit as you corner. It can be used behind a head glitch to achieve a guaranteed kill on someone on the other side of the cover, as it causes a periscope effect where your collision box is way beneath the cover you can shoot over

3) Jump+Crouch slide is a very reliable method of peeking that is utilized extensively in the competitive environment (and probably will be again in BF1). It causes a sliding effect while crouched, and gives you a very small target profile while facilitating fast peeks.

4) You can't shoot while jumping. Timing is of the essence with jump peeks.
