CCS x5 Rules

Cup Overview:

Champion’s Combat Series x5 Test Cup is a mixed mode 5v5 tournament. There will be 2 separate brackets, one for the first 8 SA teams to sign up, and one for the first 8 NA teams to sign up (including the next SA teams to sign up if there are not enough NA teams). A few maps have been selected for each mode, Squad Obliteration and Domination. The tournament will be Double Elimination format Best Of 1 Map (BO1). The Winner’s Bracket will be played in Squad Obliteration mode and the Losers bracket will be played in Domination mode.

The current plan for the match times will be to play and finish ALL rounds by Saturday mid afternoon (8 BRT / 5 EST). Meaning, we will begin on Thursday, and as long as teams are available to play / wait they will continue to play until they cannot play. The play time for the predominate NA bracket (obviously there’s some SA teams, and schedules will bend for those matches), will be 9 EST - 11 EST on Thursday and Friday. Saturday times will be 12 EST - 8 EST, just the confirmed times need to be updated in the match comms as far as when teams are available, and ready to play. This needs to be done QUICKLY. For the SA only bracket, I presume 9 BRT - 11 BRT will work for most teams on Thurs-Friday, and 12 BRT - 8 BRT on Saturday. BrettFX and others will be casting our 5v5 matches. On Sunday, we will have the championship matches played.

CCS Conduct:

It is imperative that all participating teams and players understand that it will be prohibited to partake in ad hominem attacks towards any individual inside and outside of CCS. Simply put, we all represent the same community and we can not stoop to that type of behavior. Team rivalries and “banter” can of course occur, but please, always remember to keep it civil and that this is just a game. Skill level of players and teams will be different, but treat everyone the same way you would wish to be treated. CCS admins will hold the power to analyze situations of offenses and such situations may result in player(s) being banned from the season/cup being played, as well as subsequent season(s).

Server Location & Map Choice:

During the primary season, teams will be paired with teams within their region. Regardless, we have rules set that will help teams know what to do in various regional scenarios

Same Region:

  • Obviously, when you play on the same region, it shouldn’t really matter what server. However, server’s should be played with the following in mind:
    • Higher the tickrate, the better. (60>40>30)
    • Try and keep the pings for participating members even. Though, there shouldn't be complaining about 100ms and below.

Different Region:

  • In this scenario, teams must play one map in one team's choice of server, and the other map played in the other team’s choice of server. For example, BR and a NA team are playing, map 1 is played in BR choices server, and map 2 is played in NA choices server.
    • Question: How do we know who gets to choose first?
    • Answer : The decision is based on 2 criterias
      • If we’re in the playoffs, teams will be seeded. In this situation, the “BETTER” seed will veto 2nd, as well as have the 2nd choice of map/server.
      • In the main season, teams will need to coin flip. The winner of the coin flip will choose the map to play on their server.

Average Ping Region:

  • This is a HEAVILY ENFORCED rule. If a server can be provided where the pings are more stable AND better on average for most players; this server will be used. What this means is if a team can average 110ms to one server, and another team averages 70ms; this server should be used instead of facing each other in separate servers where it’s 20ms v. 200ms etc…

Adding Players:

CUPS:

Members of teams may only be added to a roster before the cup begins. When the cup starts, the rosters will be locked.

SEASON:

Members can be added throughout the season. Rosters will be locked during the last week of the regular season.
SWITCHING TEAMS: After players are signed up to play for one team, a player can only switch teams if approved by both team leaders. However, in the case of political situations where a release is not granted; CCS admins can help in unique circumstances.
MULTIPLE TIER PLAY: Other than having Team Leader approvals for “ringers” (see ringer section), players are not allowed to play on multiple teams in multiple Tiers.

RINGERS:

A “ringer” is a player needed in the case that a team does not have numbers to play a match. In the situation that a ringer is needed, the opposing team leader must approve the ringer. Take into account a match played is better than a match forfeited. However, it is still up to that team leader’s discretion to allow a player or not. CCS admins can be sought to help in these situations if available.

Match Comms Doc:

There will be no match comms doc like the conquest season. Upload screenshots to confirm results from a round on your match comms section. Streamed matches will also need media uploaded to the Match Comms forum post.

Weapon Ban List:

Keep in mind that this is a Test Cup. These bans will be reviewed during/after the tournament and will likely be adjusted for the next events to come. Many guns that were banned over a year ago by other tournament organizers like ESL have been nerfed since their initial ban and should be re-tested for balance. The goal of these bans is to create more diversity within the 5v5 scene as well as to better showcase skill.

The CCS 5’s Test Cup Bans are as follows:
Primary Weapons:
  • Famas (banned only in Domination mode)
  • CZ-3A1 (banned only in Domination mode)
  • All Shotguns
  • All ‘Pickup Weapons’

Secondary Weapons:
  • G18
  • 93-R
  • Shorty 12G

Grenades:
  • V40 Mini
  • RGO Impact

Gadgets:
  • All M26 Variants
  • All M320 Variants (Except Smoke)
  • All XM25 Variants (Except Smoke)
  • C4
  • Claymore
  • Mortar
  • UCAV
  • Decoy
  • Ballistic Shield
  • T-UGS
  • Radio Beacon
  • MAV
  • Motion Sensor Balls

Attachments:
  • Target Detector

The Biggest things to notice here are:
  • DLC weapons are ALLOWED (including Deagle, Bulldog, F2000, etc.)
  • Most Vanilla Weapons are ALLOWED (including SCAR-H and ACE-52)
  • G18, 93-R, and Shorty 12G are BANNED. Hopefully this will encourage more skillful play with a wide selection of revolvers or semi-automatic pistols. Most viewers would rather see one Magnum headshot than a G18 quad-kill.
  • Flashbangs are ALLOWED. Their use/effectiveness will be monitored closely.
  • SUAV is ALLOWED. Hopefully the Recon class will see some more use. MAV was obviously an overpowered gadget for 5v5, but the SUAV should be an okay alternative for scouting, without being nearly as effective as any other detection gadget as it will be more difficult to spot targets while active and cannot be effective for much time with each use. SUAV use/effectiveness will be monitored closely.
  • FAMAS & CZ-3A1 are ALLOWED in Squad Obliteration mode. These weapons should see limited effectiveness with the ranged nature of Squad Obliteration maps. Nonetheless, these weapons’ usage/effectiveness will be monitored closely. Keep in mind that these weapons are BANNED in Domination mode, where they are already known to be the best choices due to the close-quartered nature of Domination.

General Rules/Settings:

Domination:

Teams will play both sides of a map at 150 Tickets. Matches will be won by total ticket count at the end of both halves. Example: if Team 1 wins the CN side of a map by 50 tickets and loses the US side of the map by 60 tickets, Team 1 loses the map (by 10 tickets). A match ending in a tie (for example both teams win one side by 50 tickets) will be resolved by replaying the map on both sides at 100 tickets (instead of 150). 3D spotting will be OFF and regenerative health will be ON.

Squad Obliteration:

Teams will play both sides of a map at 10 minutes per side. Matches will be won by total bomb count at the end of both halves. If a team clinches a win by bomb count before the timer expires, the teams do not have to finish the rest of the match and can exit the game. An example of this is if Team 1 finishes the first half 2-0 in bombs, and scores a 3rd bomb in the 2nd half. It would be impossible for Team 2 to score 3 bombs in one half, so the game is finished and Team 1 wins. Ties will be determined by faster bomb time. If both teams score 2 bombs at the end of the second half, the team who scored their 2 bombs faster will win the map (no Overtime procedure is played in this case). This should encourage more aggressive play and discourage passive/defensive stalemates. Overtimes will not be played for 1-1, 2-2, and 3-3 ties (in almost all cases, keep reading). However, an Overtime WILL be needed for 0-0 ties and 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 ties where each teams’ last bombs were scored at the exact same time. In this case, the match will be reset (teams will switch sides again and replay 10 minute halves) and the first team to score a bomb wins (SUDDEN DEATH). Sides will not be switched if a team scores. The game is simply over after the first bomb score in OT. This should encourage teams to work harder to score on the favored side of maps.

Rewards and Prizes:

Team’s must decide which member on their team would receive the “mass” bulk of rewards before the season begins. Due to this being (obviously) VERY small scale; any awards we issue through sponsors and such need to be done in mass since the LTOs will be sending the awards out on their own dime.

Penalties and Other Issues:

Server Crash:

There are a total of 3 options that are permitted if a server crashes. The third option is enforced if option 1 and option 2 can NOT be agreed upon.
Option 1: Take the score as is
EX: Server crashed 186-110, take that as the final score
Option 2: Restart the round completely, and play at the beginning
Option 3: Play a round starting with the score that the game ended on. “Play with Handicap”

Server Latency:

If there is severe server latency issues for a team, the match can be halted and rescheduled, or moved to another server if there are issues with client to server communications. In this situation, documentation (footage) of the issue may be needed to justify a date change / server change.

For use of Banned Weapon or Gadgets: (this will be updated soon)

A screenshot, or video recording of an opponent, will be required to confirm a banned weapon. State in game that the weapon is banned. Definitions of banned weapon/equipment usages are better defined as follows:
A team can apply to replay the round if the opposing team agrees
More to come, waiting on confirmation of what is desired for various penalties.

Recording and Cheating Suspicion:

Spoiler Spoiler

If a player is suspected of cheating by a team, the team must come to a tournament organizer, and ask for evidence to be provided by suspect.

Spoiler Spoiler

It will be required that each player have the ability to record their gameplay. There can be cases where the aforementioned statement can be waived, but it will be highly situational. But in the case that a player is suspected we privately go to that player and inform him/her of the decision that they are personally required to record. They are allowed to play the next week, but after that week if they do not submit those recordings to us, they are “soft banned” for the rest of the season.

Spoiler Spoiler

If their video is submitted to us and it shows them doing just as well as they normally do without inhuman abilities, then they are no longer required to record subsequent weeks, but if their recording shows them to not have a previous comparable skill set, then they are required to record indefinitely until the admins are satisfied that they are not cheating.

Spoiler Spoiler

In the case that cheating is confirmed. The player will be removed for that season, the team will get automatic losses for each map that the player participated in, and that player will be barred from playing for at least 2 consecutive seasons not including the current season he or she played in.

Spoiler Spoiler

Cheating is a high offense, and every member of CCS is screened through various measures to confirm their legitimacy.

Spoiler Spoiler

Previous known PBB bans will be taken into account, and a 20 month “clean play” protocol must have been followed to allow admittance into CCS.

Also, take note that we want the matches to begin being played on THURSDAY of next week (mainly for our caster's schedules):

So, if possible, schedule your matches for 9-11 BRT or 9-11 EST for Thursday and Friday. We want all of the first few rounds done by Saturday. The Championship rounds will be reserved for Sunday unless timing and everything works out for a Saturday Finals.

Thanks,

Colossus and CCS Staff

I object to the following gadget bans. Think the decoy, ballistic shield, and motion balls should be allowed.

For now, we're going to leave these rules as is; and confront changes for after the test cup. Thanks!
