Look at all those lasers... ;o They still don't know how tracer rounds work apparently... ;o

I guess it's more of an issue with implementing them to a game. I have zero experience with this but aren't the IRL tracers just "glowing bullets", and the tail effect is just a product of human eye when it sees a bright light.
A light from each bullet is out of question in game (too heavy). A bright texture is something that's already implemented altho you can't see it much unless you're the one firing. The code they probably use is just to draw a line along the path the bullet goes which makes it look like lasers.

Sorry if your name wasn't on the list, I honestly can't recall all names : ( . Nudge me if you want to be included

@Sheepnub

Thanks pal :)

Looks like I may actually get some choice now! Which is what I was after: 20mm on maps where jets are a problem (Firestorm), and 30mms on maps where there's cover from them (Caspain).

Suppressor + claymores make this map extremely fun to play :) Much better than BF3's Death Valley.

it sort of forms a line, although pretty short. But the bigger issue is that they don't start glowing until about 20 meters out iirc because otherwise it's a dead giveaway to the exact position of the shooter.. The trailer it's fucking laser beams ;o

I like the first Night Operations map. But the fact that you need/want night vision optics really brings home how atrocious the unlock system is.

hardline and black ops 1 systems were the best.

personally though, i feel like nv sights and to some extent flashlights kind of hurt the mode... i would like to see a server(just one though, don't want everyone to be like that) with an nv ban to see how the map works out.

You don't really need night vision, after a while you get used to the darkness so you see people moving around more easily.

Bam
Colored cells = New value. The ones to the right are the old values

Scrub question: what exactly do the last six lines in those tables tell you? I've never looked at hard numbers for MAA heating/cooling/reloading before, and I can't make sense of the ones you posted. Example: I just tested the 30mm cooldown with my phone, and while it seems to take about 5s to overheat, I keep seeing it take less than 3s to recover, rather than the 3.6s listed. Am I just bad at stopwatches?

Heat per bullet: Heat rises until it reaches a maximum (1.0 exactly), at which your vehicle overheats.
Heat drop per second: The exact opposite. However it works WHILE you're shooting
Overheat penaltytime: The extra amount of time added after overheating until your heat starts to go down.
Overheat threshold: The minimum amount of heat you need to reach until shooting is possible again

Reload time is put there more because of an automatism..

So, while shooting the 20mm (for example) you are actually gaining ((2000/60)*0.014)-0.3 = 0,1666 heat per second
It will take 1/0.166 = 6 seconds to overheat
You will have to wait 0 seconds until heat starts to go down again
You can shoot again once heat reaches 0.1

If you are just holding LMB, it will take (1-0.1)/0.3 = 3 seconds until you can shoot again (= until it reaches the 0.1 point)

I'll change my little table to say how long it will take for you to reach the threshold instead, probably a little easier. First page on this thread.

Hope I explained it clearly enough :o

Hardline is a fun and sometimes silly Cops and Robbers sorta thing and I think that's great. Or it would be if it didn't suck.

Meanwhile at DICE-headquarters during BF4's release:

I'm pretty sure there's a massive post-it on every desk "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ANYTHING THAT IS ACTUALLY DOING WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DOING"

UCAV:

"Lets add c4 to it."

The World Champion went to China once.

They called me a Gweilo.

So I kicked a big fucking hole in their wall and let all the Mongolians in.

just thought I'd share.

The thought of Assaults running out of ACE 23 rounds mid firefight, Engineers facing the rear of an unaware MBT with no rockets left, Recons unable to...Whatever the fuck they do. These are the things that keep me up at night ;(

I assume a functional game (BF4) also.
