I've seen the video, and the guy's right. It's basic economy though, really.

Today in teamspeak this topic actually came up. People complain about the game, yet they buy it. Even though previous purchases have proven bad until stuff got patched (over a 2-year period, with still a lot of bugs left).
People might say the game has failed, seeing the amount of complaints. But the thing people seem to forget is that from a corporate standpoint, the game isn't a failure till you make a loss on it.

As highlighted in the video, the consumers' mindset is fundamentally wrong. And is being exploited. If we accept broken products (well, its a newly released game..offcourse it has bugs!), and still buy them, then there's no stopping. The producer's mindset doesn't switch to "oh, lets make sure we make a game AT LEAST 99,99% problemfree!" to "as long as we finish the game by the end of its lifecycle, with the result that the consumers will buy the next one regardless of its quality or its former release's, we can keep doing this until that exact mindset has ran dry". Is this a dickmove? Most certainly. Is it cost-aand-time effective? Oh hell yeh

Normally topics linking to videos deserve to burn in an eternal fire. But this topic has potential for some nice economical debating, and i'd love to see what has turned out to happen when i wake up and open this topic again.

I'm expecting the worst though.

I got about 10 mins through the video. The guy has very little grasp about the mechanics he is complaining about. The guns in BF4 all have spread, it is not a glitch, not to mention he has no idea how suppression works in the first place.

Agreeing with Sheep on this one. While that vid needs needs a nuclear waste bath (on top of its existence on this forum, he used Wikipedia a lot for his sources; big no-no when making an argument), the fact that we as a gaming consumer base are throwing cash at EA and its affiliates for what are essentially alpha-stage games gives me no hope for the human race. Seeing shit like this happening in the industry and actually becoming a norm has me second-guessing my college major (Game Design and Development). Really hope that lawsuit rumor we were hearing about a while back turns out to be true and goes class-action. I'd love nothing more than to take a chunk out of EA for this. X(

I have XBL friends who like to defend the developers and publishers. "The game just came out. Of course it's going to have bugs." I don't understand why some people have that mind set of letting the man screw them. It's the sheep mentality that everything is fine and the way it should be etc. They even think the idea of a class action lawsuit is stupid and a lost cause. Kinda made me think of Liebeck vs McDonald's. I had friends in college that called her an idiot, but I thought it was great that a consumer got to fuck the man for once, because the man is always fucking consumers and small businesses in some way, shape or form.

I just got out of a TDM match that lost a lot of players and ended up being a 4 vs 2 on Dawn Breaker. It was like 34-12 and there was 48 minutes remaining. I started wondering if Dice even knows that 1 hour is stupid-long for a TDM match. A 10 vs 10 match won't last over 15 minutes. "Just quit the match and find another one" people will say. I did, but I shouldn't have had to, the match should have ended as soon as the other team had less than 4 players or the match timer should have been much lower to begin with. Some of the simplest things were neglected and some of it really makes me wonder if they even have an in-house Quality Assurance Department...

I think the lawsuits from shareholders are more likely to pressure them to focus on releasing a more polished product next time. I doubt a mass boycott would ever happen.

THIS. This right here, ladies and gentlemen, is why EA will keep rolling broken games over and over. This mentality where the average guy just says "Uh, they really messed up by doing X, so I think next time it will be much better".

No. It will not be better. Ever notice what DICE says every time in light of the new game? "Oh, sure, we didn't know what we were THINKING back then when we did Z in previous game, but we sure learned the lesson now!". This is exactly what people want to hear and believe. Tip: do not believe everything you hear, and definitely do not believe everything you WANT to hear.

Meh, if EA had waited to release BF4 until it was ready it probably wouldn't be out yet. Even in the state the game has been sine launch it's still even more fun than BF3.

So logically I can't really complain about the game being released too early. :)

DICE requested a 6-month extra developing period. So, technically you're right on this one

To be honest I think BF3 was way more fun than BF4 for many reasons. The only reason Iīm playing BF4 is that I had BF3 on Xbox360 and now I have BF4 on Xbox-One (64 players, "60" FPS, etc.) and that is putting it over it. If there would be a version of BF3 for Xbox-One with the mentioned upgrades and enough other people playing it I would not even hitted 150h play time in BF4.

It is completely true that if people donīt stop buying fucked up games that there will never be an end. However it is possible that DICE/EA lost more customers than most think of with this launch.
There are the hardcore fans like us that are wiling to accept more and more because no other game can give us this fun/feeling or whatever when playing this game (BF4 made me even try COD again because of the lack of other FPS on XBONE but I played 1 round and sold it again). But on the other side there are the casuals and I donīt think that they start the game again after it crashed 5 times in 1 hour and more important I donīt think they will by any other title of the series that fast. And when I see some of the new things implemented in BF4 it is exactly this customer that DICE/EA want to have for the BF series. Also when it came out that DICE was saying to EA no more DLC until the game is fixed, the loss on the exchange might be also a warning.
But these all are just speculations. At least for me things have changed, I will not buy Battlefront or BF5 in the future before I know how these games work, I hope some others also have plans like this.
