Thus, I refuse to log in until some more stuff gets fixed. And I sure as hell am not buying Premium (I am so glad I didn't fall for it).

Nobody cares

Ontopic:
This is a good thing really. EA pushes DICE beyond their limits, forcing them to publish an unfinished game. While this is a risky move of DICE, them telling EA to fuck off is a good thing. They are prioritizing the game's quality, and the satisfaction of the customers. This is the most important thing as of now, with a release that went this bad.
Props to DICE for pulling this off

Pheo how are the crashes on the PS 4 and Xbone to be expected? Both consoles are basically current PC architecture with a custom CPU/GPU and OS. The Xbone OS is basically Windows 8 so I fail to see why the game should not work out of the box.

As for the garbage netcode/hitboxes or whatever the issue may be with hit detection it needs to be fixed and soon. It really detracts from the game experience. The damage SNAFU on the Xbone needs to be fixed post haste as well.

Electronic Arts Tanks After Hitting Reset On Battlefield 4 - Forbes

Quoted

On Wednesday, Electronic Arts announced that the ongoing problems with its Battlefield 4 video game forced them to delay future games from its developer DICE. In response on Thursday, investors mashed the sell button.

At 11:05am EST, EA stock was down 8.28%, one of the biggest drops during morning trading.

The reaction from Wall Street was understandable, given not only extensive problems with one of EA’s signature games, but also the ripple effect it could have through their lineup. DICE, a Swedish subsidiary, is responsible for development of other big titles like Star Wars Battlefront and Mirror’s Edge — both of which are now put on indefinite hold.

More at link.

The dichotomy of what EA says and what DICE's official mouthpieces say via Twitter is interesting. I expect that getting the Starwars IP for Battlefront has alot to do with this, because I suspect that's worth far more than Battlefield as a whole; everyone's gonna want to make sure that Battlefront 3 becomes a big fat cashcow ripe for milking.

Assuming for now that this is true:

Dangit! I've paid good money for PREMIUM! I don't want to wait two years for my next DLC!

I'd call it fixed if it runs as well as BF3 does - which isn't all that much to ask for.
Zormau - Battlelog / Battlefield 4

Memorable quotes not taken yet:

Of course, this ignores the non-constant cross-sectional first moment of area across the chest as well as non-constant material properties of the boob; it would be difficult to perform a more detailed analysis (as in, I'd have to have a shape function AND I'd need to derive a function for elastic modulus as a function of lateral breast coordinate) but whatever. It's 2am and I'm lazy.

I always believed science should be very hands on experience.

You should also answer this question I had posed in that thread: Would you be willing to pay your surgeon more if he was going to use a chainsaw for the opening incision of surgery? Clearly using a chainsaw isn't truly suited for surgery but that doesn't really matter. If he's "skilled" enough to be able to use the wrong tools of the trade, he should be rewarded for that skill right?

For some unknown reason my Spidey Senses started tingling...
I have that strange feeling of "Abandon ship while you can!!"
On topic: It was a drastic move, but it was necessary... after many problems (not only BF4, but BF3 as well) DICE decided to put things in their places.
Thumbs up for DICE (at last) and we should hope for better days in BF4...

Hah. When I first heard about it the story was that EA told DICE to fix bugs before working on DLCs.

And I just couldn't get my head around that. Why would EA, who hasn't ever given a shit about it's costumers, suddenly care. And not only that, but the biggest money grabbing gaming producer in the world would knowingly reduce their income by the delays.
So I still don't quite get it, I have a feeling either:
a) DICE made the call and showed some balls telling EA that bug fixing would be priority 1
b) This is a bit of a publicity stunt (although a bad one with shares going down like that), because the next DLC (after Second Assault ofc) wasn't planned to release anytime soon anyway.

DICE is just as guilty as EA in this entire mess. Furthermore, I suspect that DICE was told to get their house in order, post-haste, and EA is going to exhibit massive damage control to preserve trust in their product to preserve the Starwars/Battlefront liscening that they just received and inconceivably handed to DICE.

Starwars, love or hate it, is one of the single most important pieces of IP and liscening around. Having a lock on the FPS in that universe is a HUGE deal. That's the reason.

Real companies don't do annoucements akin to saying, "yes, our developers are incompetent and our quality assurance is a complete shitshow" because of exactly what happened here, a 9% decrease in your stock price.

In other news, you can expect, in the next 6 months, a major shift in the overall corporate leadership at DICE. An 8% drop in an 5.4 billion dollar company is alot of scratch. Quite a few people will be tending resignations. Including anyone who managed the BF4 product.
