@Spectacle
@JSLICE

Give the regular bolt a 1.0 modifier against body armor (something I suggested I think), and give the BA Bolt a standard .93 modifier?

Assuming experimental weapons, the Crossbow in case could be experimental itself with experimental ammo types. As such, all of my bolt ideas detailed are viable. Hell, there could even be a decoy bolt.

It fits the hypothetical theme, but do these Bolts exist outside of your imagination? For example the Multiple Kill Vehicle showcased in the Dragon's teeth/ Sneek peak of Final Stand IS an actual prototype; DICE didn't just grab it from thin air. I see where your logic is, but it'll need to be true experimental/ prototype equipment rather than simply made up. If you can find evidence for your suggestion, then I'll be more inclined to accept it.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

It doesn't have to exist per se. It's not like strapping C4 or a motion sensor to an arrow is a radical or new concept.

I have no idea what the MKV has to do with battlefield though, considering it's an anti-ballistic missile warhead delivery platform.

I'm still holding on to the faint hope for the battlewalker to make an appearance, as a sort of bridge between BF3-BF4 and 2142.

One definite possibility is the EMP weapons (grenades, etc) that were in 2142.

Note that the MKV-based drone (it's not a true MKV, but essentially a future version based on the same tech) has the Viper's M197 cannon mounted inside of it, so it's going to be offensive for sure.

We are thematically short a grenade, specifically a not-lethal one; I've always figured if we get one it will be an EMP. It's something I'd love to see too.

It doesn't have to exist per se. It's not like strapping C4 or a motion sensor to an arrow is a radical or new concept.

The storied background behind BF3's XBOW: fashioned MacGyver-style with debris from the aftermath of an earthquake. So the two 'questionable' bolts made sense (Explosive and Scan) as the Explosive is a piece of C4 duct-taped to the head and the Scan has a portion of the TUG-S sensor fastened to the head.

They were made from scavenged debris following the earthquake, while not radical in concept, to me, it does not suit prototype weaponry. The XBOW and its Bolts were not prototype, but MacGyver-type. :D

Are ballistic knives a possibility?

Now why'd you have to go there? I like you, member formerly known as bite2breakskin, but don't go and ruin it.

And it's not because of the OTHER franchise either, why I am not fond of the idea. It's just silly. Propelling a knife from a launching mechanism doesn't represent military. That's Cold War spy territory.

Throwing knives doe.

Plenty of the weapons in vanilla are barely prototypes. Surely a futuristic Crossbow is possible and has been thought of. I mean haven't you seem Rambo?
I buffed DMR velocity.
QBU is only weapon in my heart. That and the M1911.

Oh, you're talking about a direct copy-paste of BF3's models, well obviously that would be out of place. A broken HK417 with Russian optics and random parts stuck on is hardly future tech either, though it would be hilarious to see the HK417 come back as the Xbow but not in proper form.

Happy days will be upon us if the crossbow comes to BF4 and is as useful as its predecessor. Unfortunately it would go the way of shotgun slugs with body armor (becoming almost useless because 90% of people run armor) and we will likely never see a crossbow thats amazing like the BF3 version. I would still use it because it was fun to use with the balanced bolt for sniping but if the standard bolt countered body armor then I would always have one of my equipment spots occupied from then onward to forever (or Battlefronts release and my ceasing to play BF4)

Given what's been (indirectly) done to Body Armour in CTE, I wouldn't worry about it being an issue if we do get an Xbow.

I still would. The CTE changes do nothing to make shotgun slugs more viable against armor, and the xbow is in pretty much exactly the niche as the slugs for this purpose.
