Ditto! Instead of just labeling my statement as silly, how about you make an argument? In my opinion, Dawnbreaker fits the attack helicopter better than a big open map like Golmud Railway. An even better fit is Siege Of Shanghai since there is no mobile anti-aircraft and a lot of buildings for cover. That is why I wrote it is "somewhat useful" on Dawnbreaker. This might be the silliest statement I have heard in some time.

The AH is certainly "somewhat useful" on other maps, even Golmud. Golmud has lots of cover if you fly low and use the terrain, and remember that long range works for the heli too, not just the AA.
Can not argue with that! That is what every good attack helicopter team did in Battlefield 3. But like you said, "it has a huge skill ceiling, and few players invest the time or effort to learn its playstyle". Furthermore it requires good communication between pilot and gunner. I am sure the majority of Battlefield 4 players are casual gamers and play by themselves. What happens when an experienced pilot and some "blueberry" gunner try to engage targets from far away? The gunner will most likely bail because the pilot is not aggressive enough in his eyes. Obviously nobody wants an empty server, to throw money away. Probably the best way to avoid this is to create a gaming experience that is appealing to the masses. The casual gamer, by definition, will not invest the time and effort that is needed to be a good pilot or gunner on a map like Golmud Railway. An excellent suggestion. I find that people think the heli "ineffective" on the large portion of maps because they use it incorrectly. Many seem to use it as a glorified scout heli, and rarely engage targets further than 100 meters. This is a bad idea. Even on Golmud, you can be outside of MAA and MANPAD range and still kill infantry and armor--both pilot and gunner can kill tanks effectively from 450 meters with a bit of practice. It has a huge skill ceiling, and few players invest the time or effort to learn its playstyle. Golmud is probably my favorite Atheli map, since I my gunner and I can sit above the ridgeline by A/B on either side and prevent any armor and infantry from pushing A, B, and C. If the MAA becomes a problem, TV+TOW outdamages 30mm and 20mm by a fair margin at 400m.

It really seems to me that the Australian servers must be very different from most other countries. last night there were 3 different "locker 24/7" servers, then I come on here and hear that there are no servers running lockers lol. It was the same with metro in BF3, all just close range clusterf$%# maps like metro and seine with no dlc maps in sight. I think i can count on one hand the number of times I've seen naval assault maps on an aussie server. I generally assume nobody has the dlc. At least vanilla BF4 maps are somewhat decent. BF3 was just awful knowing that all the best maps were never available.
