This might be the silliest statement I have heard in some time.
Ditto! Instead of just labeling my statement as silly, how about you make an argument? In my opinion, Dawnbreaker fits the attack helicopter better than a big open map like Golmud Railway. An even better fit is Siege Of Shanghai since there is no mobile anti-aircraft and a lot of buildings for cover. That is why I wrote it is "somewhat useful" on Dawnbreaker.

The AH is certainly "somewhat useful" on other maps, even Golmud. Golmud has lots of cover if you fly low and use the terrain, and remember that long range works for the heli too, not just the AA.

An excellent suggestion. I find that people think the heli "ineffective" on the large portion of maps because they use it incorrectly. Many seem to use it as a glorified scout heli, and rarely engage targets further than 100 meters. This is a bad idea. Even on Golmud, you can be outside of MAA and MANPAD range and still kill infantry and armor--both pilot and gunner can kill tanks effectively from 450 meters with a bit of practice. It has a huge skill ceiling, and few players invest the time or effort to learn its playstyle. Golmud is probably my favorite Atheli map, since I my gunner and I can sit above the ridgeline by A/B on either side and prevent any armor and infantry from pushing A, B, and C. If the MAA becomes a problem, TV+TOW outdamages 30mm and 20mm by a fair margin at 400m.

"you obviously don't know what an argument is as there is only one person battling. Do you really fucking think I want subs? You think you can act all big and powerful just because you sit on a computer at least 6 hours a day like the probably nerdy unwanted retard you are with 4.3k subs? You think 4.3k subs is a lot? LOL you need medicine man. I don't want any subs as i just have a google account for other media and writing comments. Think twice before you act. You even said in your video you aren't that great of a player, and the comments agree you aren't. Maybe you should once again think twice before you act, stop being such an annoying, ignorant bastard that everyone wants to shut up, and god, literally, just shut up. Your voice gave me a headache :s"

"As a youtuber shouldn't be trying to be reeling in your viewers with exciting stuff being said not your boring ass commentary for your video"

"The more you watch his vid the dumber he gets I swear he's borderline autistic look I got shot behind cover beacuase thin sheets metal are unpenetrable. Bf4 is just as quiet and tactical as bf3 random explosion in the background . Player has dissconected from chat
You started playing bf3 and never touched bfc1/2. Please do yourself a favor and shutdown your generic cod channel down"

"Nice clickb8 Faggot w8ting for your shit tier video to disable comments . Fucking newfag cancer go play some cod you activisiom cock faggot"

"I don't see why he [MarbleDuck] always tries to shit on levelcap he is better and has a million more subs...and also "there isnt a best gun in she game there are guns that are better that others at different engagement distances" yes thats true and whichever is the best/most average at all of them is the "best gun""

"Marbleduck you don't know shit lol levelcap knows more than you do you cant talk about how someone puts up garbage when you do yourself your a newcomer to YouTube acting like you know shit step up in the food chain first then you have the right to talk otherwise your just a fish trying to compete with sharks"

"Why don't we just witness "LevelCap vs MarbleDuck" One on One both on Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 seen as there is so much Controversy about the Two Youtubers"

"stfu cunt, BF3 was way better end of discussion"

"Stfu man, you're be littleing the most looked upon Battlefield Youtuber. No one cares about you, how much of an ego you have, or quite frankly your opinion. It's a fucking game.... Does it really fucking matter? Pathetic man."

"fuck you asshole, dont talk shit about total"

"Wtf is your problem? You have no subs and he has millions, yet you pick on him like some kind of stubborn, ignorant, rude child born with a silver spoon is his mouth. It's easy to do that, for example... You said there was no background noise yet there is. You say you're a fairly good player, you're not."

That reminds me of one experience I recently had in "Battlefield 3". I had spawned in the Attack Helicopter on the roof of the TV Station and since I could not fly, I switched to the gunner seat and just rained death over pretty much the entire map.

Can not argue with that! That is what every good attack helicopter team did in Battlefield 3. But like you said, "it has a huge skill ceiling, and few players invest the time or effort to learn its playstyle". Furthermore it requires good communication between pilot and gunner. I am sure the majority of Battlefield 4 players are casual gamers and play by themselves. What happens when an experienced pilot and some "blueberry" gunner try to engage targets from far away? The gunner will most likely bail because the pilot is not aggressive enough in his eyes. Obviously nobody wants an empty server, to throw money away. Probably the best way to avoid this is to create a gaming experience that is appealing to the masses. The casual gamer, by definition, will not invest the time and effort that is needed to be a good pilot or gunner on a map like Golmud Railway.

Edit: I think I have found a setup a lot of people would enjoy. Operation Firestorm is still one of the most played maps in Battlefield 3. In Battlefield 4, there are a few servers that run this map but only with up to 48 players. I would love to recreate the Battlefield 3 experience. 64 players, 800 to 1000 tickets (so a round lasts about 30 to 45 minutes) coupled with a relativ high tick rate (60 Hz). I would probably swap the positions of the bases, though. In my opinion, on Operation Firestorm 2014 the US has a small advantage. They have a big mountain near the base which provides cover for the attack helicopter and D-flag gives the commander the option to deploy a gunship. Since a lot of people consider the US vehicles as being superior to the RU ones, I think it would be fair to give RU the map advantage.

It really seems to me that the Australian servers must be very different from most other countries. last night there were 3 different "locker 24/7" servers, then I come on here and hear that there are no servers running lockers lol. It was the same with metro in BF3, all just close range clusterf$%# maps like metro and seine with no dlc maps in sight. I think i can count on one hand the number of times I've seen naval assault maps on an aussie server. I generally assume nobody has the dlc. At least vanilla BF4 maps are somewhat decent. BF3 was just awful knowing that all the best maps were never available. For "Battlefield 3" on PC, there is sadly just a single server left in North America that runs all the Premium maps and gets any consistent traffic. Even though that is the case, many people who frequent the server constantly vote for vanilla maps that could be played on half a dozen other servers.

Holy War? No Thanks.

Well it has something to do with the quality of the maps and their themes. In BF4 most maps are either designed for close combat infantry or for vehicle lovers. Good combined warfare maps are hard to find. From the top of my head I can think of Zavod, Caspian Border, Propaganda and maybe Firestorm. Also BF4 pretty much totally dismissed urban warfare, at least in a way they portrayed it in BF3, which is a highly popular scenario.
Personally there are maybe seven maps that I do enjoy playing with 32 players, a couple that I do not care about, and the rest I utterly despise.

To add to the topic, the easiest way is indeed to make the server official to fill it up and than sneak in the DLC maps at peak times, this way you might not lose too many players over a bad round or map. Also high tickets and odd rules/server options turn people off.
What I really found is that people tend to leave servers a lot and switch to another at the end of the round because the transition between two rounds is just too long.

It's funny, right after posting I found the first ever example of an Australian server trying to really mix things up. It was a mix of vanilla and dlc maps, with most rules set to normal, but health set to 60 and vehicle respawns set to about half the time. It was very stranger playing what was essentially hardcore but with mini maps, spotting and auto heal. While I wouldn't say it was something i'd want to do all the time, it just demonstrated to me the lost potential of personal servers. It was very refreshing and made going back to the same old vanilla normal cycle that much more dull.

It is probably too short of a time period to bring a verdict... Nonetheless, after trying to get a server going for almost a week, here is what I learned regarding the game modes Conquest (Small) and Conquest Large. Forget Conquest (Small), without some advertising or being part of a platoon or clan, it is highly unlikely people join a server that offers this game mode. There are very few servers that generate signifcant traffic using Conquest (Small), they are all run by what appears to be a giant gaming community. Most people play the "signature game mode", Conquest Large. So if you want to run a server succesfully from the start, choose Conquest Large with 48 to 64 players (depending on the amount of flags) and a map like Golmud Railway or Operation Firestorm 2014. I can not tell what will happen with a map rotation, have not tried it yet.
