Strafing speeds for Canted Iron Sights

Alright, so over a long period of time, I’ve been doing a
lot of tests with weapons and their attachments in conjunction with information
you can find here on Symthic, however one thing has me somewhat baffled: strafing speeds with Canted Iron Sights.

As a lot of you may know already, you can get faster
strafing speeds with certain weapons when using an RDS/Holo Sight or standard
Iron Sights. These weapons include:

-All PDW’s
-All Shotguns (aside from the DBV-12)
-All Sidearms (Deagle and Shorty 12G are special exceptions;
Deagle only strafes faster with Ghost Ring and Shorty 12G strafes Slower with Ghost
Ring)
-All Bullpup weapons which fall outside of the categories
above

If you use anything other than an RDS/Holo Sight OR the gun’s
standard Iron Sights, the faster strafing speeds are diminished. Strangely
though, this also includes the use of Canted Iron Sights. Was this deliberate
on DICE’s part, or is it something they overlooked?

whoa whoa stop there for a momnet dude, have you got proof of it? if yes that totally* changes the metagame customization for bullpup weapons, and also does that apply to the magnifier as well?

Yeah people found that when looking at the moving spread values. WoopsyYaya made a whole thread about his findings, very popular and very insightful, too. There are some quite intriguing consequences, because the moving speed affects the formula how moving spread is calculated, so that you can use the F2000 with the default sights (which at that time eliminated the bullpup speed) and have a really accurate AR while moving.

People discussed it here along with the misaligned sights while moving and the visual recoil. Back before CTE some RDS would also remove the speed bonus or add it. It was really crazy back then, but I guess overall it is now working as intended, probably if you use a magnification you are walking more careful or whatever the reasoning is.

vincent, i knew all of that, i participated in those threads, the "this changes the metagame" part was about if magnifier and ironsight actually do change movement sight as op says, if it does, i could use prisma/jgm4+irons or pka-s+magnifier rather than prisma+laser on the l85.

You mean you do not want the faster strafing speed? I just tested it, as soon as you move while your Magnifier/Canted are used you lose the speed bonus. The benefits from that are very miniscule though, you do have a more accurate weapon then, but the hipfire bonus and the speed bonus are very hard to calculate into a performance.

I just tested it. Bullpup assault rifles with canted iron sights move at the same speed as the other assault rifles. Considering the ADS values, bullpup assault rifles with canted iron sights are the best weapons in the game when it comes to moving ADS. Interesting!

Edit: Okay, they are also best when used with at least a 2x sight/scope but like iota-09 said, it "changes the metagame customization for bullpup weapons".

Yeah, I guess that makes sense.

I've been using the Magnifier alot with certain bullpup weapons because of this. With a Magnifier you only get the slower strafing speeds when the Magnifier is deployed, otherwise you get the faster strafing speeds.

Yes, but like iota-09 said: "ideally mangifier should not give the bullpup bonus and the canted sight should give it". So if you want a sight with 1x zoom that does not give you the speed bonus and thus worse moving ADS, you should use the canted iron sight. Like you said in the opening post, it most likely has been overlooked by DICE.

The bullpup bonus is the moving speed, meaning thar i expected the canted ironsights to have 75% movement speed and the deployed magnifier 50%
