Should "No specialization" be removed as an option?

I've seen what appears to be a trend of rank 45+'s refusing to run squad perks because, as I once heard, "helping teammates might let them steal my kills." Should the option to not help your team be removed?

Seems about right but I have something to add. Don't make Sqd Sprint available if another squaddie already has it, so you won't get doubles up perks like you do in EVERY squad you ever join!

Hey guys, lets all remember here that this is Symthic, and we are all mature enough to debate a topic without becoming emotional or insulting. Ad Hominim attacks only demonstrate that your position is weak and that you've run out of supporting evidence and serve to undermine your own position. I hope no one here drops to that level.

Re: Should "No specialization" be removed as an option?

It is pretty hilarious, but this is a true phenomenon - players getting more fun out of annoying/trolling other people in game than they do out of playing itself. If only there was a way to change certain people's wiring so that they don't derive their fun out of ruining everybody else's time. Not to mention that there is the "Not in a Squad" option if you really hate everybody else.

On another note: there should be some sort of warning if you are about to spawn in with the same specialization as somebody else in your squad to reduce redundancy.

EDIT: Autosynth beat me to my second point - but I'd extend it to all perks. Dunno about barring people from taking them, but at least a warning/reminder that you about to spawn in redundant would be nice.

I definetly agree with this. As for the disallowing more than 1 sqd sprint, should probably avoid that as people that don't have anything else will usually run that. A reminder would do the trick.

Good idea, but I won't like having my specs change unknowingly and, say, later finding myself facing against a tank with Reactive Armor with only 3 C4 because a past game had automatically switched my Explosives spec to another one. That is, unless it automatically changes back to our "default" spec.

I think that it's good enough if you or your squadmates ask for someone to change their specialization to complement each other. But I think "no specialization" would be a good option, like BF3 already disables solo specs once you unlock the squad version.

Re: Should "No specialization" be removed as an option?

It is annoying that i have to remind my squad members to change specs (and they almost never listen). I'd prefer DICE made specs already in use unselectable and deal with the annoyance of not getting the perks if i spawn while the teammates responsible for those perks are in the spawn menu than having 4 people in a squad with the ammo spec.

Don't squad perks only apply to people who spawn while you're alive? Like if somebody has Squad Sprint, but happens to be dead at the time a player spawns, that recently spawned player doesn't get the benefit? Or does it activate and deactivate on a player depending on what is selected?

It was so stupid I had to ask. Having three bushwookies all with ammo that go 3-7 or so is pretty stupid too. But at least they're running perks... .

That's exactly what i meant in my post above. If you spawn while the spec guy is in the spawn menu, you won't get the perk. DICE should fix it, i believe. It makes me hesitant to change my spec from ammo to something else because i need to be sure the other dude is alive.
