G17C Suppressed... Doesn't Make Any Sense

It just occurred to me that a G17C Suppressed makes no sense.

The G17, is the Glock 17.

The G17C is the Glock 17 with a compensator. ( <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/product1054.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/s ... t1054.html</a><!-- m --> )

The compensator has holes in the top for gasses to escape upwards in order to reduce recoil. That gas that comes out will go "Boom!" So a suppressor on the front end of the gun, I think would be ineffective at reducing the sound or flash!

It would make more sense if it were just G17 Suppressed.

Anyway, I know it's just a game and kind of pointless, but still, it's kind of silly.

They probably couldn't be bothered. As you said it isn't that important but still, a nice little fact there.

Reacted to that it was the compensated model, which is pretty rare, especially in the military since it just means extra cleaning.. Never thought about the suppressor though :P (Suppressor on glock is pretty awkward as well though... Needs a new barrel)

They could just have skipped adding the C and no one would even notice anything.. Not sure if the in-game model even is the C model...

That's funny, for some reason I always thought C meant compact even though I know that there are different numbers for the different models IRL...and this one clearly isn't compact. Oh well!

A Glock with compensator is in the original Rainbow Six Vegas...

Got to love Glocks way of naming things.. it all makes so much sense ;o

9mm
G17 - standard
G19 - "compact" (shaves off 1 finger groove and some barrel)
G26 - "subcompact" (pocket size)
G34 - "competition" (~2cm extra barrel)

.40
G22 - standard
G23 - "compact"
G27 - "subcompact"
G35 - "competition"

10mm auto
G20 - standard
G29 - "subcompact"

.45 G.A.P.
G37 - standard
G38 - "compact"
G39 - "subcompact"

.45 auto
G21 - standard
G30 - "subcompact"
G36 - "subcompact slimline" ("small" .45 isn't that small)

.380 auto
G25 - "compact"
G28 - "subcompact"

.357
G31 - standard
G32 - "compact"
G33 - "subcompact"

There used to be "L" or "Long" versions as well like G17L, but G34 has sort of taken over that..

"C" or compensated models is available for:
G17
C19
G20
G21
G22
G23
G31
G32

Basically you just replace the barrel and slide for ones with 2 holes in them to redirect some of the gases for more stable recoil management.

And yeah, you probably didn't want to know this :P

Re: G17C Suppressed... Doesn't Make Any Sense

The logic here is the same BF3 dev lazy logic which means an L85 can mount a foregrip without a Daniels Defense Rail. Interesting fact to know!

Hey guys, lets all remember here that this is Symthic, and we are all mature enough to debate a topic without becoming emotional or insulting. Ad Hominim attacks only demonstrate that your position is weak and that you've run out of supporting evidence and serve to undermine your own position. I hope no one here drops to that level.

Meh, it would have made more sense too if it said just "G17 Supp."
