Laser blindness = cheater?

Ok, we all know that the added bonus of the laser is that it can be used to blind your enemies (or friendlies), and we have all seen the massive red blob that is being blinded by the laser.

However, have any of you been unable to shake the laser blindness?

More than a few times, I have entered hallways and gone laser blind, then if I quickly sidestep, crouch, or even jump I never get relief from the laser blind unless I completely look away. Then I started to wonder, where exactly do you have to aim to make someone laser blind.

So I got a teammate to stand still and shone a laser all about him. Arms, gun, chest, head, etc. The only place that caused laser-blind was the face. IIRC, it was very specifically nose to forehead. Mouth/neck wouldn't blind, top of the head wouldn't blind, and being on an oblique wouldn't blind.

So unless it is different friendly to enemy, the only way to be blinded by the laser is for the weapon to be aimed at the eyes.

Now I am not the most accurate player with only about 15% accuracy (mostly because I'm trigger happy ;) ), however I do have about a 25% headshot ratio so I am pretty good at busting skulls.

And I think that if I had a laser on my rifle and was trying to headshot a moving target from at least 50m away, I'd have problems keeping the crosshairs, let alone a laser, on their eyes. Especially if they are zig-zagging randomly, crouching, and jumping. At most I'd be giving them disorienting flashes of laser blindness.

So this leads me to believe that anyone that can keep a blinding laser on you for any extended amount of time is without a doubt 100% using a bot.

Anyone else sympathize, think otherwise, or have insight to offer?

I figured this out quite a while ago, but I took a break from playing so it got left in the drawer until now. That, and I am not a server admin nor do I participate regularly in any clans so I never really shared my thoughts.

TLDR -
Teamwork is where players function by themselves, but their effectiveness is multiplied when they work together. Not a checklist of "did we bring a healer so we can start playing?"

There's obviously a lens of some kind in the hallway. Does his character wear glasses on his forehead?

Beam divergence.

You think so? Think they would have gone that far in depth when designing it?

I see snipers running lasers all the time from 200+ meters away and I hardly ever get blinded by them, and it doesn't seem to happen all the time in any given situation. However, when it happens to me once in a round I find it's going to happen more. That's why I've always kinda questioned it.

the laser is blinding up to 50m, and is visible as a red dot out to about 75m, it is not visible past that, if I remember correctly that is. at 200+ meters away, you will for certain not see it. It's also pretty easy to get the blinding effect on enemies with it, kinda like scope glint really.

Just have your friend go on the enemy team, then report your findings here. Any info to add to the symthic library of game knowledge will probably be greeted with rep.
