Am I using the correct sound setup?

I'm using an Asus Xonar D2X soundcard set to:

Audio Channel: 2 Channels
Sample Rate: 48KHz
Analog Out: 2 Speakers

DSP: Hi-Fi
7.1 VSS: Off
Dolby VS: Off

In game, I've got my sound options set to Home Cinema with enhanced audio off. And I'm using a pair of Sony MDR-V6s. Is this right or should I enable 7.1, Dolby, etc?

Is your guys volume really low? Even if i max out my volume slider, with my ASUS Xonar DX, it's not very loud

I believe you will get better directional sound with Enhanced stereo enabled in game, with your stereo headphones.
I think I get better positional audio with my stereo headphones with Enhanced stereo enabled, than my 5.1 headset with enhanced stereo disabled of course, like it should be. Real time 5.1 to stereo conversion is just a walk-around for games/movies without a good stereo output, but the potential of original stereo output is much better than 5.1 converted into stereo, as far as positional audio is concerned.

For the guy who gets a weak output - it depends on your headphones. Yours might need an amplifier. But make sure you configure the connector as headphones, not speakers, in your driver, to have higher volume (if possible).

Thanks, I'm using sennheiser pc360. Do those need an additional amp?
