XBox 360 Joystick

Played BF1942 (and Desert Combat) on the PC for many years, and even now I dust it off and get it out for a quick blast.
For me, one of the main attractions of the Battlefield franchise is the aircraft, and with the aid of my trusty Saitex Cyborg joystick I owned at BF1943...

I have recently started playing BF3 on the XBox (and am totally addicted) but I find the experience with the aircraft unfulfilling. I believe that the main reason for this is the fact that I have to fly the damn thing with the XBox controller when I am a joystick man through and through.

So when an XBox FLY9 joystick (RRP £90) came up on ebay for £20 I snapped it up. BUT... the bloody thing doesn't work with BF3 -:s- (confirmed by EA Support)!!

Considering this is one of only two analogue joysticks listed as an official XBox accessory, why the hell doesn't it?? WTF is going on at DICE?

Anyway, does anyone else use a Joystick for XBox 360?
I dont want to go to the trouble that this guy did! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiJxp5xni70

Re: XBox 360 Joystick

If you have $150 at hand, you might want to consider taking a look at this as it has Joystick support.

I haven't really looked into it much, but I've considered getting one for a while just to try it out whenever I get enough money to spare.

<slightly offtopic rant>
Here's what I don't get:

I read that in a cross-platform research Microsoft did, they found that the PC players dominated the console players in general because Mouse > controller in terms of aiming, so they did not implement cross-platform.
Then I read that the XIM3 developer(s?) contacted Microsoft and they were told that they were allowed to do it.

I mean, c'mon, the average PC player vs. the average console player? The PC player will dominate because of mouse. Even the XIM3 videos section is full of videos of people pwning in various FPS games.

To me, using XIM3 is no better than using, say, wallhacks. You alter the game in a way that gives you an unfair advantage versus other players, AKA cheating

I'm not sure that I agree. I have played PC my whole life and my brain just doesn't 'get' the thumb controller thing.
I get pwned by my 10 year old at MW3 and my 14 year old daughter can send a 50 character text in about 10 seconds!
But all my thumbs get used for is the space bar (actually as I write this I realise that I only use my right thumb so my left thumb is just dead weight).
In other words, I'm just not built for console controllers.

I see that our friend primal has a nice healthy 2.64 K/D ratio: Mine is 0.52 so I guess you can stop worrying about my controller setup -:>-

Anyway back on topic: Primal I must admit that it looks awesome, and definitely warrants further consideration, but I can't help but think there would be some serious setup overhead every time you wanted a quick game...
