A better player by at least 33%...

Ok, what is the ultimate potential killing machine in Battlefield?

Famas?
F18?
Some kind of Cybernetic Rocket Gorrilla?

Nope, after testing out a few games the other night I discovered my score and K/D improved by at least 33% when I used....

An ethenet cable.

My wireless connection (PC) has been causing micro-lag for so long that I'd gotten used to playing like I was fighting through hummus.
It's funny that for all the weapon comparisons and tactics on here the greatest improvement to my skill comes from checking my connection.

Any one else have any tips for better play outside of the actual weapon loadouts?
(Monitor contrast?, Mouse Settings? Playing Drunk?)
I've personally flown over 194 missions... and I was shot down every one of them. Come to think of it, ...I've never landed a plane in my life!

full hd and Full brightness in screen. Reset router/modem before you start. you should be close to the screen. you shouldnt have any obstacles near your mouse and alot of space for your hand to move. you should have a dot in the center of the screen (like a little sticker cross or circle) to help you aiming from the hip. You should have a smart key binding to your mouse and dongle/keyboard.

well... so many little things that make the difference...

Every experienced player would have told you that. -:P-

A quick checklist, sometimes in order of importance:

  • Ethernet Cable (Check!), no other traffic
  • Suitable mouse
  • Suitable mouse pad
  • Keboard without ghosting
  • Min FPS >=30, correct graphics settings (high resolution, low details)
  • Headphones
  • Faintly illuminated room with backlight (cliché!)
  • Suitable sitting posture (no relaxed leaning back, correct angle to monitor)
  • Fitness
  • If all else fails, music and/or alcohol

Wow thats a lot of prep! Do you dress in full camo uniform to enhance the experience too?! -x)-

Good tip on the sticker idea.

Playing Drunk?

Playing drunk makes everything 200%+ more fun, though the skill usually drops by 10-100%

5.1 surround sound is much better than headphones ;o You don't get the same surround sound from headphones, no matter how much they try...

Perhaps we should plot a graphic showing Accuracy against Alcohol consumed...

I heard colorblind mode also helps you spot enemies.

However I find this very relevant. I'd rather play a pleasing looking game than be 1% more efficient.

I play with a 100kb connection, pretty much the slowest shit possible.
I'm not sure if it makes my game worse though. Anybody have experience with different connection speeds and how they affect your game?
Would be really interesting to see if i have a disadvantage or not...

You mean internet connection or Wireless card speed? My broadband isn't a bad speed but because my place is rented and my PC is in the furthest room away from the router I get horrible lag moments. You don't?

Plenty of times I'll engage an enemy, fire a few rounds off and then rubber band teleport into a previous area and instantly die. I can't even risk flying a chopper!
