choice of firearms: influenced by aesthetics?

Being that the firearms are more or less generic statwise, I was wondering if you are influenced or perhaps fully based by the sexyness of a weapon.

I know I am and I've only recently overcame my distaste for non-Western weapons. I'm especially fond on the looks of European weapons, you can't beat the slick design (and ergonomics) of a H&K firearm. Granted, I'm also biased by being a Belgian and therefore proud to use FN-make weapons.

Guilty! +1

Except the KH2002 which is function over form in my case, I don't think it particularly attractive. But, I certainly agree, I prefer to avoid guns I think are 'ugly' in my eye.

Absolutely! I stopped using the KH2002 for the longest time because it looks silly. Especially so with a holo on it since the sight looks like humpty dumpty on a tightrope.

Once I picked it up again though I remembered how great it was. Haven't looked back.

Yep, I use an MP7 over any other pdw because it looks the best.
Also same reason I use the HK-416, it just has that aesthetic appeal. Otherwise I just don't enjoy myself.

Re: choice of firearms: influenced by aesthetics?

I like the looks of most weapons, but I wouldn't really like playing with an ugly weapon... Thankfully my preferences and in game functionality usually matches up well.

A-91 is one of those I don't really like the looks of... Looks weird with the sight that high etc... Though I played pretty well with it. Though M16/M4 is one of my favorite ones (without the top handle) and it's excellent in game, so it's all good... Thinking about playing a bit more with the A-91 soon though

I use the AEK because the first girl I ever loved had the initials AEK... . That counts as aesthetics, right?

The AK-94's handling/'real life mechanism' is the only exception in my strict Western-based weapons diet. Upon further reading about this firearm I've learned that the gun is quite an exception for military personnel as well. Yet it should be the general issue rifle for Russian Federation troops. Ah you Russians, designing such a performing weapon but making it so complex and expensive it will never fill it's intended role.

edit: the AEK-97 also seems to have potential

That counts for so much more then the looks of a gun.

Only reason I use the AN-94 on console is because I love how it looks. That's about it though.

Re: choice of firearms: influenced by aesthetics?

Some of the bullpups are too ugly for me to use when equipped with scopes (the KH-2002 was one of my better weapons though, so it would be an exception)... I do like using the 416 RDS/underbarrel loadout, which is an aesthetically pleasing setup, to say the least.
