BFBC2 weapon balance vs BF3 weapon balance - which was better?

Out of the 2 recent Battlefield related games , which got weapon balance correct? This is not taking into account suppression.

Reasons why if you please?

Reasons why I think BFBC2 got it right - BF3 all you see is M16 / AEK , not a sure sign of weapon balance.

The willingness to give each weapon its own damage profile according to its own unique trates and not the round it fires is what made BC2 a better balanced game.

If you do not understand what I mean, the F2000 did 12.5 damage per round while most of the other AR's did 16.7. This meant that even at a higher rate of fire it did not totally outclass everything else. Turn to BF3 and you have all guns in the same class dealing the same damage and you where always going to end us with a FAMAS like issue.

Balancing for DPS versus BF3 balancing by calibre is a matter of preference it would appear. Balancing for DPS is more numbers and computer game based, while making weapons of similar cailbre do the same damage is closer to real-life. It turns high ROF weapons into damage buzzsaws, but I applaud their attempt at spread and recoil balancing to simulate bullet drop, kick and human error in the confines of a computer game.

I never played any Bad Company games, BF2 was balanced pretty freaking well though, then again there were not a ton of weapon choices..

DICE even admitted that they made a mistake with Magnum Ammo.

As opposed to XM8, XM8, XM8, XM8 in BC2? :D
Honestly I've not played any BC2 recent enough to give an opinion on what I thought the weapon balance was like, all I remember was hating every single prick who ran around with an XM8 and that that was most people :P

As for Battlefield 3 I think the weapon balance could be good if they just stopped messing with it. They should of spent a shit ton of time before the game was released pissing around with the weapons and then just gone "Right lads, we've done our bit. That's your lot. Stop complaining", that said I am glad for some of the tweaks they have made and I'm glad they are doing them but that's only because they didn't get it right first time like I just said.

XM8 was not OP. It was good up close but failed really hard relative to the other ARs at range. The F2000 was the only UP AR.

Far as I remember the XM8 was neither overused or overpowered. It was certainly popular and all 3 variants where good guns, but they felt about equal with the rest. That said, I haven't really checked recently. Seem to remember the AUG was a little UP though.

The XM8 was not op. The only guns that could be considered op were the An94 and the M60 but they both got patched.
That was the beautiful thing about BC2s balance. You could be a monster with whatever weapon you used, be it the XM8, M416 <3, PP2000, M40, etc.

So to answer the question, BC2 balance>BF3 balance
