Jet "Turbulence"

Hi. So as a jet pilot this is the single-most thing that pisses me off. Basically, when you're in a jet flying low to get an infantry kill your cockpit view shakes around violently, like you're a buggy on a f'ing rally stage. At first I thought this was a game mechanic, but I see videos of PC players doing the same things I do without the BS turbulence. It much worse on some maps, like Kharg, and on some servers its so bad its not even worth trying to kill infantry.

On console the range at which infantry are visibly spotted from the jet is pretty low, so that coupled with this "bug" makes flying a jet extremely frustrating at times.

(I usually only play on EU servers so my ping/lag is not the cause)

Opinions?

It seems like a server/connection issue to me. Happens more when my conection is busy or just all the time on some servers.

TLDR -
Teamwork is where players function by themselves, but their effectiveness is multiplied when they work together. Not a checklist of "did we bring a healer so we can start playing?"

It's rubber banding. Jets go quite fast so being on sync with the server and other players will be much harder.
Another reason to believe it is lag because it doesn't always happen and inconsistent so rubber banding is the only reason.

Also, from my experience, this never happens to me. When it does, my connection is bad.

I agree. I live right near an Air Force base, and I see jets flying around on a daily basis. Their movement is very clean and precise, and not at all bouncy and weird as portrayed in Battlefield. I don't think they've perfected jets yet, so maybe in Battlefield 4 we'll see a better experience.

The same goes for helicopters. Why is it that if I bump into a tree/street light, the helicopter dies and the obstacle is just slightly inconvenienced? The multi-ton metal vehicle loses out to a wooden power line?

Same for MBT's and IFV's as well. Why is it so hard to go up slopes and break through obstacles? Those things could go through BUILDINGS if they wanted.

I think DICE needs to go back to Physics class.

those issues were big in the beta...a dev twetted those are caused by rubberbanding and lag

so you basically need a ping below 10 to get rid of 99% of those

In other words, this game's code looks like it's written by 5 year old kiddo compared to how DICE did things with BF3.

Rubber banding is certainly part of the issue but not all of it. I only have the really violent problem with the hornet. My problems suually come when making violent turns but sometimes just going straight I have them too. I have my thrust set to my Thrustmaster 16000m and when I go to brake for the 310 turn I get violent shaking. I can switch to the other side and do the same thing with the flanker without anything problems at all. Same with the F35.

Same as rainkloud, it only ever happens to me when I go from 420->310 while turning. And I don't think I've ever got it in the Flanker.

Not always heli is destroyed instantly. Sometimes you just lose control and an impact damages helicopter. Though I agree, in BF3 feels like your chopper is made of aluminium...

At least I am grateful that power cables are intangible (as well as heli blades). In reality blades are very fragile. If they are bent, any deviation of 1 cm or more and helicopter may be crashed. Even if few bullets hit blades - this may also cause instability.

DICE logic;

"We can't be assed to make power lines physical. How do we balance choppers?"

"Put loads of invincible posts everywhere that the instant your chopper touches, you're flung to the ground at alarming speed. There, that will do."

I'd prefer a telephone pole launcher to a Stinger honestly.

Sorry for the derail

Sig

The T-90 is a challenge, the BTR-90 is going to kill everyone in a 100 meter radius and go flying off a hill into a helicopter only to drive off while the corpse of the Cobra it just went through is being dragged through the beach on Oman.
The game will include a fully automatic An-94 launcher, literally firing Abakans at 600 RPM.
