The Gasmask is a gun

Two examples of it killing people in this reddit thread, and my own post there was: "I guess it, just like melee weapons, is technically considered a "gun". Melee weapons just fire a very short range, invisible projectile (or several?), so I guess the mask does something similar. It's probably partly what ensures you can't use other weapons while toggling it, and can't sprint as you're "firing" it, and such."

Any of you wizards know its stats? Damage, range, projectiles, and all that good stuff.

It uses the Club projectile.

the Sebstalder is quiet good since it can 3hit kill at any distanc ,but In my opinion i actually thikn the sweeper is better, its got a really really fast firerate that can beat alll those Noobmaticos, Helregall adn shitguns in close quarters , and its also really accurate out to like l;ong range,. overall great allround gun, jsut my 2$ tho

how exactly does one kill with a gasmask? like, punching trough it?

anyway i expect a lot of shenanigans from this... though it is such an awkward bug that i'm not even sure dice is ever going to fix it.

Not a bug, supposedly. The Data Files clearly indicate it employs the Club projectile which, in turn, concludes it is intentional.

Unless, of course, that file was somehow overlooked and incorporates unintentional statistics.

My guess is the former and it just so happens to be a "hidden" mechanic that DICE included as a joke or 'trolly' aspect. I mean, killing with the Gas Mask? Kinda silly if you ask me.

Distance = velocity * time

Time to live on the club projectile is 1s, so max range is just whatever the velocity is. Velocity is in a vec3 called InitialSpeed. For the gasmask InitialSpeed Z is 0.1, so the max range would be 0.1m

The club is different, and has an InitialSpeed Z of 2.3, for 2.3m range.

So it's a club with 23x less range.

Sounds like either easter-egg-ish thing ("lol" weapon) or some kind of an ad-hoc solution regarding usage of gadgets. Gadgets might require proper FiringFunc with properly defined attributes (e.g. projectiledata), and for some reason they just use existing melee one. Impossible to say for sure.

Either way, yay for more derping around in battlefield ^^. Kolibri, syringe (OP if you ask me) and repair tool were getting bit dull.

But, can you kill someone with a medkit?

Not the same way as these other gadgets do as both bandages/medic bags and medkits both "fire" their respective healing items. Figures.

However I can recall seeing a clip where somebody kills a teammate by throwing medpack on them in BF4 (I think killfeed even listed that kill), but can't seem to find the clip now.
