Yeah-no. Those are simply mislabeled. The Hellriegel "Factory" actually contains everything pertaining to Storm and the 1906 "Factory" has everything pertaining to an Optical (besides the Galilean sight).
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

@Oscar

YOur numbers are a bit on the high side, don't you think? A KPM of 1.5 to 2 is nothing the average player will aver reach, with any weapon. Matter of fact, I never reached 2.0 with a primary in any BF and I was rather good.

I daresay that my 0.6 and 0.7 numbers respectively come closer to the average.

But that's the point of it, it varies from player to player.

Much like Noctryne mentioned, people wanted stuff to grind towards to. Some will be happy with the requirements, others won't. For some it'll take more time, for others it won't.

I've seen many people mention that the 15 kills in a round with the M1909 Telescopic were tough to get, or the 20 MP18 Headshots, or the 8.35 kills.

For all intents and purposes, though, 300 kills isn't that much and the requirement is simple. Just playing with the gun will eventually get it done.

No it is what Noctyrne interpreted the people wanted. :D Personally I do not see me spending 26 hours into unlocking four attachments, it stands to reason that the effort is just not worth it, and I am the guy that was happy as a pig in the muck to get 5SS with every primary, secondary and gadget. First of all the gunplay is not as appealing, secondly it takes an awful amount of time, the assignment is incredibly uninspiring.
On the other hand the stuff unlocked could be dealbreakers for me and others. As said the Selbstlader Sniper, I would love that. It could be a new goto weapon, but I do not know, since it is locked behind 9 hours of playtime. Of course it is simple, but 9 hours is huge. I mean what is the average playtime of a BF1 player? Should they not also have the chance of unlocking this gun?

DICE here creates an incredible timesink, too. I've never had something like this in an FPS before, I did not necessarily like it in MMOs, but I do not think it fits in a BF game. I rather have them come up with something that is beyond killing of indiduals. Something that is achievable, fun, and that can well be challenging. I loved the BF3 assignment to take out five helis with an RPG for example. That is an achievment worthy of the name assignment. And if you do not want to do it, you could just statpad it.

Unlock creep has been a major thing in the franchise

They started off in 2142 where it took a concerted effort to fully unlock all of the classes - it was tied to rank and you got generic points to be spent on class/branch of your choice. But net result is that fully unlocking took some time.

BF3/BF4 were pretty damn extreme. Nearing 900hr and I simply never unlocked all of the content due to silly fetch questing and general uselessness of much of the stuff. I practically didn't unlock any recon class stuff at all.

Overall I think BF1 stepped in the right direction. Vehicle stuff is generically locked via warbonds and essential class weapons are low level locked. You don't have a loadout screen filled with shit you never use.

A legitimate question I've always wondered is do people actually enjoy the weapon grind? In server chat it's generally just a littany of complaints. Firestorm burntower farming for the gol mag was pure salt sowing for eg.

The stats decide whether or not it is an Optical, not the visual attachments themselves. The visual attachments are just aesthetic. The 1906's Optical traits are no different than the Cei-Rigotti's/ 1916's Optical traits, the latter two just have the Galilean sight with magnification up to 2.50x. The 1906 has Irons that can zoom in to 2.00x, which I would argue is better because Iron Sights take up much less peripheral vision than the Galilean sight does, but that's just me.

You don't have a loadout screen filled with shit you never use.

you mean like the plethora of variants that are counted as different weapons? (yeah, i know that's just a ui problem that will be fixed in the future, presumably after one of the last dlcs)

as for the grind... i donb't know about people, but i don't like grinding, i hate it, what i like to do is unlocking stuff, i never understood how people can play mmorpgs and other games by simply grinding and grinding and grinding like a damn blacksmith tool, just to get a higher level, however, on the other hand i pretty much stop playing every fps or car game once i unlock everything... i guess it's just about the feeeling of a reward, but in my case, i just like the reward, not the satisfaction about the completion of something, which is something i lack almost completel, i actually wonder what people feel of so satisfying in playing games without receiving a reward of any kind(be it the story, in-game items or the fun you might have with friends)

Also if it has everything optical but not the optic, how is that different than tossing on a bipod on a gun with a tele and equally "mislabelling".

This is still stupid. Wording mean something, in this case the word optical, which means having an instrument that uses light. IOW having an optic.

Any sensible English speaking person with a decent understanding of the principles of language would assume (and naturally so) that something called optical, would have an optical device integrated into it. In particular an optical gunsight when talking about guns.

IOW the defining thing that should make a gun an "optical" variant is whether or not it has an optic. Wheras the defining characteristic of "telescopic" is that it has a medium mag optic. And so on for sniper/marksman.

The under the hood modifiers in addition to the particular optical sight are frankly confusing/counterintuitive.

All games are fundamentally repetitive after a point. What distinguishes repetition from grinding is that grinding locks things (game assets, progression, trophies, etc) behind a specific set of repetitive actions, whereas repetition is just a consequence of having specific game spaces and rulesets and mechanics.

I don't like core-grinding like in typical MMORPGs, but I don't like the softer stuff either.

I also derive effectively zero enjoyment in completion for the sake of it, don't care about accomplishments, awards, trophies. Don't care about unlocking every cosmetic doodad or weapon or gadget. I like playing games because the gameplay is fun, and I stop playing the game when the game stops being fun.

The reward is HAVING fun. At least for me. I do enough hoop jumping for pats on the back in life in general. I don't need it in video games. I simply can't really feel "rewarded" getting stuff in video games. Kicking ass feels pretty good I guess, though.
