### Quoted from "Gecko99"

Just remember that unlike MGs and the Ribeyrolle the Hellriegel fires a pistol cartridge so the bipod probably won't be THAT useful.

120 rounds begs to differ. The Hellriegel is just one bullet more to kill after 21m, becomes the same again at 29m, and reverts to one more bullet to kill beyond that. I'm interested to see which bipod the Ribeyrolles uses, because the Hellriegel Defensive will probably use the same one. I'll be back.

So the Ribeyrolles uses what is simply referred to as Underbarrel_Bipod in the game files, here are the benefits:

0.2x Vrecoil (all 3 ADS stances)
0.25x Hrecoil (all 3 ADS stances)
0.5x min. spread (all 3 hip stances)
0.5x max spread (all 3 hip stances)
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

### Quoted from "NoctyrneSAGA"

Unlock whores complaining about the lack of progression, unlocks, and how easy it was to "complete/finish Battlefield 1" got their wish.

I tend to be a completionist, and I played for the Mastery Dogtag of every weapon and vehicke in BF3 and 4, or tried to. In BF1 I at least tried to get 100 kills with every weapon for the first service star. As far as attachments go, and a variant is nothing more than an attachment, 150 kills would usually net you the stuff you need or want.

New guns were also often locked behind assignments, many of them were quite hard to do, for me at least, but doable in a game, and some were quite fun. What I always think is good for assignments is to promote the use of underused gadgets, and a combination of those. I remember one assignment where you had to score a kill with a shotgun, pistol and DMR in a round. Stuff you do not regularly see.
THe 20 HS kills with the MP18 were annoying but promoted the use of an underused weapon, and since 20 headshots roughly mean 200 kills, some might have chosen to adopt this new weapon. Ot ot actively play for HS with the Russian 1895 might have people gotten into improving their aim. Plus promoting the use of the infantry versions and PTFO is a decent idea.
Same can be said about the gadgets, AT mines, dynamite against vehicles, Rifle Grenades, the Periscope, the Limpet, all these are fairly underused, these should be an integral part of assignments. Then again you would need to make the stuff worthwhile and more rewarding to encourage people using it beyond the assignments. That is how you encourage people to think out of their box, and there is meaningful unlock and progression. 300 kills and 25 gadget kills is just uninspired and a grind, for a single attachment, mind you.

But this is CTE and subject to change I hope.

300 kills is fine. I average about 30 kills per CQ round according to BF Tracker, so it should only take about 10 rounds.

You could probably speed this up by playing Frontlines or Operations.

Normally, I don't really like having to do achievements, but if they're going to be in the game, I actually want to work for them. Not some measly "15 kills in one round" and have the assignment done in 10 mins.

Next, wanna try adding a guy that you KNOW is bad, and just testing to see that? Example: PP-2000 (god I so wanna love this gun, and yet...)

### Quoted from "Pastafarianism"

Example: PP-2000 (god I so wanna love this gun, and yet...)

Yes, it comes in last so far, but that is mostly because I'm making it shoot at 100m ADS - Not Moving as one of the criteria. Even then, between 50-100m Not Moving, when you include Useability, it is only 1.37% worse than the MTAR-21. Within 50m then it even beats the A-91.

Have a look, vs. the A-91 Carbine:

Using it with Muzzle Brake and Compensator is a wash in terms of overall performance. Comp is SLIGHTLY more accurate, while MB is SLIGHTLY more easy to use. Their overall scores are basically tied, with MB just ahead. I guess either can be recommended.

### Quoted from "Pastafarianism"

But... You can't be counting for the fact that it takes 9 bullets to kill at "long" range... Don't you dare tell me my A-91 is worse than a 9 BTK 650 RPM mediocre PDW.

Also. Just go heavy barrel. The recoil is low enough.

### Quoted from "Zer0Cod3x"

Well, technically...

Comparing a PP2K with HB and an A-91 with comp and stubby (as you suggested in an earlier post), at 50m not moving, the A-91 is only better by 4 damage per hitrate. While at 75m and 100m, surprisingly the PP2K does better than the A-91 (I'm pretty damn surprised as well).

And 10m and 50m moving the PP2K also does more damage per hitrate than the A-91. At 25m the A-91 is only better by about half a bullet's damage as well.

In addition, the PP2K has a much larger mag size and substantially less recoil. And it looks hella awesome. So comparing the A-91 to a PDW is of some worth after all, as the PP2K is better (technically, not practically) than the A-91.

Mind blown.

### Quoted from "Veritable"

Zer0Cod3x explained it very well. If you look at the raw numbers right here on Symthic Comparison, you can see how that happened:

A-91 vs PP-2000 | BF4 Weapon Comparison | Symthic

A-91's "23%" RPM advantage only afforded it 1 extra round.

Velocities are wash.

V-Recoil are wash (and this is HBar on PP2k vs. A-91 without).

Hipfire and ADS - Moving are better on the PP2k, but it's a PDW and not the surprising part.

The surprising part is that, as equipped (and we see above that PP2k HBar has almost same V-Recoil as A-91 without HBar so why not?), the PDW performs better at 50 - 100m than a bloody Carbine. Why?

SIPS, 42% better on the PP2k.

And here is the most important part. ADS - Not Moving Spread, 0.35 vs. 0.2, 43% improvement.

Without HBar then of course the PP2k loses, which is why when I add all the attachments together for an Overall Ranking, it would slot below the A-91. Run HBar on it, though, then... I'm sorry

I don't think the new weapons are particularly useful. Which is probably why they were not released until now.
The Hellriegel will likely be very inaccurate off bipod and the big magazine does not really help. Assault weapon locking you into being stationary.
The 1906 will likely require the bipod to be active to have better SIPS, which will make you shoot slower than the Factory version in most cases.
The Huot already is really accurate and gets more accurate. Helps a little while strafing, but it requiring a shot more to be accurate again will be a significant downside.
The Martini-Henry cannot make use of the scope due to its bullet drop. Since the Winter Patch, you do not need to be that accurate anymore for a OHK as well. Scope glint and slower zoom in is a big tradeoff for higher magnification.

TLDR -
Teamwork is where players function by themselves, but their effectiveness is multiplied when they work together. Not a checklist of "did we bring a healer so we can start playing?"

Yeah but that is you. I am rather a kill hunter myself usually, but it depends on the weapon really and the round. In Frontlines I can do 100 kills total, but that round will last 100 minutes. If you have a KPM of 1, which is rather high, you will still need 300 minutes to reach 300 kills. That needs to be calculated by weapon though and without the gagdet use.

SLRs and BAs have a lower KPM naturally. For rifles it is 0.6, that would almost double the amount of time it takes. 600 minutes or ten hours for 300 kills with a weapon to get one attachment. That is a pure grind and no fun. Assignments should be a fun thing and not a grind. Maybe even annoying, or a bit harder to do, but a simple grind is very dull and uninspired.

Again this is for me 272 to 500 minutes and I am decent. I just calculated and it would net 26 hours of playtime to unlock all of the four variants, assuming the KPM does not change. That is roughly 15% of my total playtime. Just to put that into perspective. And this is not an MMO where you grind for character progression, either.
Also kills will likely not work retroactively, so, if you already have 300 kills with the Hellriegel, which I do, you have to do that again.

then good news for you: you are not required to unlock them.

as previously stated, the utility of these weapons is questionable at best.

they are quite obviously meh weapons behind assignments that the multitudes of grind happy players have been begging for

I'd say the Hellriegel could be lethal around chokepoints and defending objectives against anything that's not shotguns & automaticos.

Na there is a distinct difference. Players wanted something like the elite-codices to work for and they wanted that from the start, something cosmetic for you to look at, ribbons and stuff or something to show off. Instead we got random battlepacks and medals, which are a crossbreed of assignments and ribbons and generally hated, and they do not offer any reward either besides meaningless XP.

However DICE promotes the variants as completely different weapons, and new weapons are always things that people want to try or they feel left out. But essentially it is still one attachment, but as we do not have an unlocking system that rewards you after 50, 75 and 100 kills with new variants, which would make sense, we now go from 0 to 300, if you get my drift.
Personally I hated the 1906 for many reasons, but a sniper variant, close to my best experience with the .35 Marksman I would love it. The Martini Henry with a scope, now that is also something I would like to see as I suck with iron sights on BAs. But that is locked between by a tiresome grind with weapons I do not like for 15 hours.
