It's totally absurd. I only have that many kills with my top weapon for each class.

Yeah, same here. I don't actually have 300 kills with any individual thing in BF1. My top guns, the Rem 8 Factory and M.95 Marksman, are both 250-ish, while my MG15 is split between the LW and Suppressive so both are lower because for whatever reason they could as different weapons. >.>

300 kills each, 1200 kills total, is completely unreasonable in a game that intentionally designed its unlock system to make sure players had access to all weapon options quickly.

Since CTE in bf1 force you to replay everything, I bet we can't see those new toy in action quite a while :whistling: good job DICE. I mean seriously the unlock system sometimes feel really really weird and absurd. (mp18 headshot one was a pain in the arse)

the 1906 and martini are going to be a pain, but hey, at least they finaly gave us what we and the more massive bf community were asking for, the much needed variants for some weapons(though the hellriegel... i'm not sure that thing is going to pass, for as cool as it can be), namely the 1906 and hout and some old fashioned assignmentsin the spirit of grinding, but for a purpose.

then again.... yeah, 300 kills may be a bit overkill on top of the rank 10 classes, at least for most people and even still with the fronline gamemode which is arguably the best for farming kills.
if they could make it something like "500-1000 kills with any X weapon class"(kills before the update or before unlocking the rank 10 weapons should count) or simply reduco the kills requirement to 150-200, then that would be much better.
"I'm just a loot whore."

I've got ~ 600 automatico trench kills and a touch more than 300 auto 8 and madsen kills. But I have boatload of <10 kill weapons.

Introducing major grinds late in the game release, and with a player base that seems kind of fatigued and "salty", seems really just poorly thought out too.

For sure. I get that they can't just make them available to everyone like they did with the free guns added to BF4, because they're Rank 10 guns, but the assignments should not be more than token requirements, just to have a small gate there so the system works properly.

Gosh, if you want "saltiness" look no further than this thread right now.

I mean for all intents and purposes they are still Rank 10 weapons and should each need an unlock requirement that reflects it. Getting to Rank 10 initially for each class was challenging, but were the rewards representative of the effort to complete those challenges? It depended on the player. If someone really liked the Hellriegel after unlocking it, they likely considered the effort put forth to acquire it worth it, but if they hated the 1906, on the other hand, it was probably a waste of time to them. The same thing applies to the new variants. If you enjoy the performance, of say the 1906 Sniper, the time put in to get it will be worth it. I think the unlock criteria make sense in that regard.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

If they wanted to do that, they should have just made them Rank 20 guns.

What's wrong with the former? ie giving people their paywalled content straightforwardly instead of locking it behind a grindwall too?

Making people "work", ie grind for expansion content is not really a great way to deliver added gameplay. TSNP hasn't bumped player counts the way you'd expect a DLC drop to do, which means the premium base is soft or disinterested and I wouldn't be surprised if the non-prem bump wasn't tremendous either.

Adding a massive grind to something people have been asking for for 5+ months (ie more guns or at least more variants), isn't really bumping up the fun factor. At this point I don't even think a ton of crate drop guns would make a dent.

300 kills is a solid 10-20 rounds if you main that unlock weapon. I figure conq runs an average of 25 mins so you're talking a solid 6 hours of constantly grinding one gun to get something.

How is 300 kills a grind? Have you guys ever played wow? At least it doesn't require 1250 kills like in hardline.
If you really try hard you can finish this on day one. 300 kills is fast enough.
