It could be that the Huot did not get its well-deserved Telescope because of the visual absurdity that it would probably present. It doesn't excuse the lack of ANY optic though.
The single player on the sinai desert level of the Lawrence of Arabia chapter had the huot optical in one of the storehouse shacks. The glass optics were offset. If you want to see the huot optical, it is in the storehouse next to where D and C would be in MP

Moved thread to BF1 CTE section (created a new one so doesn't mix up with other "vanilla" BF1 discussion)
Links to users' thread list who have made analytical/statistical/mathematical/cool posts on Symthic:

  • leptis - Analysis of shotguns, recoil, recoil control and air drag.
  • Veritable - Scoring of BF4/BF1 firearms in terms of usability, firing and other mechanics.
  • Miffyli - Random statistical analysis of BF4 battlereports/players and kill-distances. (list is cluttered with other threads).

@Iplaysgames96

That won't be necessary as I see it right here in the game files:

Anybody wanna take a shot at explaining this?

Reduced horizontal recoil of some self-loading rifles:
Autoloading 8 0.6 to 0.4.
Cei-Rigotti 0.64 to 0.56.
M1907 SL 0.84 to 0.7.

None of the numbers seem to match up to any values we have here on Symthic.

@Oak_Beard

This was covered in a different thread, oddly enough.

Reduced horizontal recoil of some self-loading rifles:
Autoloading 8 0.6 to 0.4.
Cei-Rigotti 0.64 to 0.56.
M1907 SL 0.84 to 0.7
Can someone explain those Hrec changes for the SLR's listed? Because they seem don't match the current values according to the data table.

I understand that I must be mis-interpreting and also not having my morning coffee as yet, so if someone can elaborate that'd be great :) Cheers.

Basically in CTE these SLR's have less Horizontal spread. So instead of going 0.6 left and 0.6 right it goes 0.4-0.4.

Making these guns even more accurate.

I believe his confusion was because the patch notes mention the total horizontal recoil values (0.6 instead of 0.3/0.3).

Just interpret this as H-Rec going from 0.3 Left/0.3 Right (0.6 total) to 0.2 Left/0.2 Right (0.4 Total).

Since almost every single weapon uses equal left to right Horizontal Recoil, the values listed are the combined number (i.e. Autoloading 8 change of 0.6 to 0.4 total Horizontal Recoil; 0.2 <-0-> 0.2).

Yeah the 12g changes were needed, it is a shit weapon right now, but I think they are changing on the wrong end, the spread is not the biggest problem I see, but the inability to go ADS with it to get a spread bonus. As said, the body is way too large on this weapon and the muzzle flash, along with all other shotguns, is unbearable. Add the horrendous recoil and all that is left is a weapon that can only be used in hipfire. Herein lies the problem.

As for the Slug, though, I am quite happy because I thoroughly enjoyed it, as all other Model 10s, I think the buff might be a bit too much though. Also it tells quite a story to that they revert the damage multipliers. I think there too many bodyparts, if they change it separately for different weapons we would get very inconsistent results (as we do already) and another stat to consider when looking at the stats.

While I see the issue with the Automatico Trench, I do not see the issue with the storm variants of the automatics. I do think the TTK with automatic weapons is long enough, I would rather have a hipfire nerf for the Trench variant of the Automatico, while buffing the spread of the low ROF weapons, so that the effective range and TTK is improved.

Well the Selbstlader buff comes is well-deserved, I wonder though if they did something about the visual animations of the gun, which was rather odd.

While I'd like the firing animation toned down, the Auto-5 really isn't that bad to use ADS; don't stare at the gun look around/past it and keep your target in the centre of your screen. Since it has spread, being a shotgun, and kills so fast, it works plenty well enough. I'm not opposed to the buffs, mind you, but I don't think the gun is awful.

Slug isn't awful, but it is awkward as hell, and this should improve that.

Storm guns are training wheels guns. They're for people who can't handle recoil, either due to simply being bad at it, or being new to using that particular weapon and needing to get used to it. I have zero sympathy for people whining about the Storm nerfs, they simply need to graduate to a proper weapon like Factory/Low Weight or Trench. I'm not sure why you dislike hipfire so much.

The Luger 1906 has indeed had its visual recoil fixed.

Oh that's right, I saw both the Huot and Hellriegel Optical in Single Player. I hope we get the scoped C96 Carbine from there too.

DICe needs to unleash alot more variants IMHO. in my opinion all weapons should have a factory/low weight/infantry variant (im talking to YOU springfield m1903) and some of the more specialized variants such as the scoped c96 carbine. I understand DICE trying to make weapons more specialized but they shouldn't be so constrictive on weapon variants

The M1903 Infantry would be worthless. A 100-150m sweetspot that players can barely see with ironsights.

There is a reason why the M1903 Infantry only exists in SP and Custom Games: those are environments where balance does not matter.

The 1903 Infantry is not capable of taking advantage of the projectile's characteristics.

If you want an ironsighted rifle, there are plenty of them already and they probably suit that role better.

Taking the longest range sniper and forcing it into close range makes no sense.

The M1903 Infantry should absolutely be in, and it was always intended to be until they couldn't get 30-06, 30-18, and K-Bullets all simultaneously working on the same weapon; the game wasn't able to handle one weapon having three different ammo types at once. LA's weapon guy and animator guy have both repeatedly expressed interest in trying to get that working in the future, as originally intended. They love the concept and want it to work, it's just a rather involved process.

Outside of the M1903 though, we have at least one iron sights version of every gun, which is good enough; Factory wouldn't necessarily be useful everywhere.

And if we have and get the scoped C96 Carbine in MP, we better get a scoped pistol version too; I want to be Han Solo.
Who has fun, wins.

Whatever happened to the dialogue for different Sweet Spots for Infantry Rifles anyway? Or was that idea never fully fleshed out?
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:
