Medic Rifle Scoring: Apocalypse Edition

Updated for Apocalype
I simulate in a 60 Hz environment with a hitrater that includes recoil decrease. Below are small tweaks made to better reflect actual usage:

  • Slightly adjusted not moving vs moving (50-50 --> 60-40). This change is to account for the fact that players are not always moving as quickly as possible when firing.
  • Small adjustment to TTK-KPR ratios (67-33 --> 64-36). This modification gives larger capacities a 10% improvement due to the fact that flanking multiple enemies is possible with quicker global TTKs.
  • Added an effective ADS time to all measurements, which assumes that 40% of the time, you are not already in ADS when preparing to fire (and 60% of the time you already are). I carefully considered how frequently enemies were engaged from various zoom states, and ultimately I erred on the side of caution. ADS time is a significant downside to using lenses, which before were only positive modifiers in these rankings.
  • Fixed an error where the RSC Optical was using an incorrect recoil decrease modifier, making it appear better than in practice.
  • I have yet to give the Howell a bonus for having a bipod. If someone knows the total time to prone and bipod the Howell, please message me.
  • NOTE: This uses the non-bugged Howell stats NOT the in-game Howell stats.

Yes, it is. I expect it to be good, but still penalizing.

I'm not sure what they were thinking in that case; it already felt pretty Godly with just the 70m range buff.


Chauchat Low Weight (better at single fire anyway and quite good <20 m and >40 m; mediocre at mid-range)


I'm concerned with how they're nerfing the initial inaccuracy of LMGs, especially with what that'll do to
single-firing them. Have you taken that nerf into account here?

I am using numbers directly from the current CTE build. The Chauchat still has a low FSRM (1.2), relatively low FSSM (-4x), very high Spread Decrease (12.75), and very high Recoil Decrease (10.05). While there are changes to other LMGs, the Chauchat is essentially untouched in the accuracy department. As a side note, the end damage values of LMGs will now be differentiated by whether you hit limb shots (23.0 vs 20.0 damage).

Yeah, it's disingenuous to say that the 7BTK LMGs have now become 5BTK at range. If you consider how difficult it is to always score chest-shots with perfectly accurate rifles in their sweetspot ranges, it will be near impossible to land 5 consecutive chest-shots with LMGs from at least 50m away.

Although this trio of LMGs does maintain 21 damage (guaranteed 5BTK) about 10m further than they used to guarantee a 6BTK, I'm not sure it really warrants Horizontal Recoil nerfs to balance it out.

Right - they will be 5BTK exactly until 49 m, and 50+ it requires zero limbs.

Thanks to a quick data dump from @Miffyli, I have completed preliminary medic rifle scoring for TTK 2.0. These stats are not final. I simulated in a 60 Hz environment with a hitrater that includes recoil decrease. Scores are weighted 50% ADS not moving and 50% ADS moving, 67% effective TTK, 33% effective KPM (KPR), and composite score is weight by percentage of kills at each engagement distance. Attached are the raw results. I don't have time to go into extreme detail, but here is a quick assessment since my last update. Weapons variants with similar behavior and scores will be listed together in order of score.

Biggest winners:
Autoloading 8 .25 Extended
M1907 Factory
M1907 Trench (if you like hip firing, this is now the best one)

M1903 Experimental (largest damage buff)
C96 Trench (significant damage buff)
Chauchat Low Weight (better at single fire anyway and quite good <20 m and >40 m; mediocre at mid-range)

Biggest losers:
Mondragon (literally all variants dead last)
General Liu and Selbstlader 1906 (Autoloading 8 .35 range buff brought these back to the pack)
Storm variants (they still underperform Opticals and Factories unless your recoil is +/- 0.5 Horizontal Recoil or larger)

Strongly depends on map, skill, and play style. The RSC will also be, by far, still the most punishing of mistakes. I would recommend the M1907 Factory or Farquhar-Hill Optical as all-around weapons for TTK 2.0.

Mondragon at the back of the pack =( I guess not receiving a buff means a nerf.

I still do not get why they give such large Hrecoil values for the slower firing, more accurate SLRs and give a lower Hrecoil for big mag or faster firing SLRs. I am looking at you M8.25 and FQ. In BF4 we have lower Hrecoil for slower firing ARs to balance out their slow TTK close range.

Really questionable design decisions.
