Can anyone confirm whether the MaschinenPistole has a 900RPM or 1200RPM rate of fire?
Everything points to it having a 1200RPM including its codex but it's stat card says 900RPM.

Stat cards have been known to lie.

Anyway, any easy check is to just go into a server and magdump it. Time how long it takes to magdump and convert that to RPM.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

You can lower that BTK by tap firing so you get guaranteed hits.

The numbers I posted are assuming magdumps.

The point I was making was that the TTK was too high, as shown by high BTK. Sorry for not making it clear.

Also due to the negative spread mechanics the initial spread of LMGs are extremely high, taking much longer to reset than a normal spread weapon.

Yeah but after the reset they retain much higher effective damage output than any other weapon.

"Effective damage output" also includes the time component, so if the time to reset is long the damage output is low.

A low damage output at first is needed to offset the insanely high damage output that comes after.

No other weapon functions like this. Damage output gets worse and worse for every other weapon except Bolt Actions.

When you bipod up with an LMG, that wind-up is skipped entirely and you stay at minSpread.

I am not seeing what makes LMGs so terrible.

It is the wind-up time that makes LMG terrible. It lengthens the TTK so much that LMGs stand no chance against SLRs. For example if a hypothetical weapon with 5BTK gets 0 spread for the first 5 bullets and then 1.0 spread thereafter, it does not matter how bad the damage output becomes after the first 5 bullets because the user would have killed the enemy before that.
