I can't do videos unfortunately. What's going on?

BF1 site overview.

M1917 Trench Carbine and Maschinenpistole M1912/P.16 for Assault, Farquhar-Hill (Storm/Optical) for Medic, M1917 MG (Light Weight/Telescopic) for Support, Carcano M91 Carbine and Type 38 Arisaka for Scout.

All of them look fantastic and fun, but the M1912/P.16 is my new favourite weapon in all of BF1.

Also seen was the a new AA rocket gun for Assault.

Yep, there will be a new Specialisation unique to Assault that changes the Rocket Gun projectile into a flak/ airburst one. It will be a godsend for infantry players who are sick of those who abuse the Attack Plane.

While definitely more useful than "Controlled Demolition," Specializations are generally supposed to be buffs to infantry. Or so that seems to be the gist of things. "Controlled Demolition" isn't a buff, but rather just changes Dynamite so that it blows up in a "semi-automatic" fashion rather than a "three-round burst." The AA version of the Rocket Gun likely trades damage against armor for a proximity fuse and increased damage (I believe) against aircraft. So, that sounds like it should be more of a separate gadget rather than a Specialization. And "Controlled Demolition" should be an alternate firing mode for Dynamite, and thus free up a Specialization spot for something more useful. Perhaps a specialization that gives you one more stick of Dynamite and allows it to be stuck to objects along with enemy, but not friendly/neutral, controlled vehicles?

Wait so the full auto Steyr pistol is assault only? It's not a primary is it?

And is the Farquhar Hill full auto?

And how are the Arisaka and Carcano looking in terms of damage models?

Steyr is assault only and so is the C96 (one variant each). Farquhar-Hill should be semi only. The videos I've seen suggest it has a unique damage model (40 max out to at least ~30 m). I heard conflicting info about the two BAs, but I think they both cycle as fast or faster than the SMLE and neither are straight-pull (so I assume this means they have a sweet spot).

With the CTE damage changes, the M.12/P.16 for Assault does make sense. Otherwise, with the current retail damage models, it would have more likely been a Pilot/Tanker gun. In the CTE, most automatics are now a four-shot kill at close range, but DICE left the Automatico M1918 as a four-shot kill, so it wouldn't have such a far greater TTK than just about all others. Now, it's basically just a slightly-faster killing Hellriegel M1915 that has much better mobility attributes (hipfire, deploy time, and whatnot) with a far lower ammunition capacity. That's still pretty damn good, but not quite as godly as it currently is in retail.

Seeing as the M.12/P.16 will practically share the Hellriegel's damage model, it'll be like an Automatico M1918 if its damage were scaled up as much as the others. The main differences being that its minimum damage is now on par with most others, but that's outweighed a good bit by its very low ammo capacity (36% reduction) and its lengthy reload. So, in comparison to other guns, the M.12/P.16 can possibly be fairly "overpowered," but I highly doubt that it'll be as much of a problem as the current Automatico M1918 in retail. There's just THAT much more downtime with the gun.

Even if it's TTK is real low I'm sure it's range will be crap. That coupled with it's small mag size and lack a detachable magazine will make it real impractical a lot of the time.

To anyone that asks:

The M1912/16 shouldn't be taken as reference. at all. It obviously hasn't been balanced yet. Its rate of fire is ridiculously high and given the characteristics of the M1912, unrealistically so, given that the gun uses a much heavier slide and powerful spring than most pistols. Currently it is broken, having nigh-infinite ammo, good reload times and basically no hit spread increase. I'm thinkign they will change the rate of fire to something like 700-800. Currently seems to be literally as fast as the dual smg thingy (yeah sorry its late my brain has gone to shit)

The C96 trench is kinda shitty. the main thing it has going for it is that if you would reduce its recoil any further, i'd be kicking into the negatives. I think it should get a full-auto function. Not actually authentic, I know, but it would just aid the ease of use. From what I can tell, it has the standard carbine damage model which is a bad idea because if this thing wants to survive with its rate of fire it needs a 3 shot kill.

The new SLR literally just seems like a mondragon with an amazing ironsight and 20 rounds, at least thats what my ears seem to tell me. It might have a worse ranged damage model.

The new LMG should have been the potatodigger but instead its this thing. Basically, wouldn't see why you wouldn't take a perino instead.

The Carcano seems like a half-way point between the M1895 trench and the infantry M95, having an absolutely amazing rate of fire (think: Scout Elite from BFH), but much worse dropoff than the 1895.

The arisaka needs a balance change asap because it currently just seems to be a super vetterli

@TheRadGamerDan

Any chance you wanna drop the CTE files on the new weapons? A link perhaps?
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

There's just THAT much more downtime with the gun.

This is exactly what the M12/P.16 will be: A 4HK Automatico, but with much less ammo and much longer reloads. It's meant to be a sort of close-range skill-cannon for Assault, like the Rem 8 .35, while the Automatico gets ease of use (capacity, reload speed, bayonet) but lower raw DPS.

And it's worth noting that without the difference of it being 4HK and the Automatico staying 5HK, the entire concept of the gun simply would not function at all in the game's meta. If anyone ever needed something solid saying we will be getting the TTK shift, this is it. It's going to happen.

For the Farquhar-Hill, a couple posts by DICE-RandomDeviation.

I don't know enough about the gameplay details on the rest to really have much of an opinion of them, though the Browning M1917 looks amazing.
