Well that's good. I think dynamite and tank shells should still be able to kill people in one go.
Only if the tankshell actually hits the body imo. Tanks have it WAY too easy in BF1.

Honestly I've had terrible luck with the canister shell in this game.

The HE shells kill infantry much more reliably.

Which feeds into my point: The nerf should lead to more use of the anti-infantry shell against infantry, as it should be. Canister should be better vs single infantry than explosive shells, with explosive shells being useful for tight groups, around cover with splash, etc.

Those making the argument that the HE shells shouldn't OHK with splash don't seem to have thought their argument through. It would throw intra-tank balance way off. Every tank with an autocannon or coaxial MG would be massively superior to what would effectively be like the current Heavy Breakthrough Tank against infantry. Not to mention the Heavy Breakthrough Tank would make the other Heavy Tanks redundant if they lose their only advantage over it.

I think you should need Flak + Jugg to survive splash damage from tanks. Even that gives an Assault quite a bit more time to dish out damage against the tank before it would be able to neutralise them.

So basically, you're further eliminating A7V Assault/Flame (lol) from being a valid choice and further cementing Standoff Chamond as the best choice in the game, with FT Support as a secondary option if you don't own TSNP/hate the Chamond.
Not to mention Mortar/Support Landship with annoying side guns being even shittier to use thanks to the poor aimpoint and unstable platform.

10/10 balance indeed.

57mm case is garbage and only used by TH Landship gunners or A7V Breakthrough because the other option they have is too unreliable to get a kill with (57mm AT, which has 70 damage splash). It barely functions up to 50m and then you're looking at 2-3 shells to down a single enemy. I guess if you never use vehicles it sounds like a great change, like 99% the community proposed nerfs against planes.

Nerfing the splash damage of tank main cannons would also hurt the landship though, as you are more reliant on getting kills through splash since you are not going to hit anything while your driver moves.

Landship is already irrelevant in most situations, which is why I didn't pay much attention to it in my post.

Right now, Standoff Chamond offers the best package (Cannon + MG+Smoke+Spot), A7V Assault has the best survivability (Smoke + ERep) and you have a few situational choices (Breakthrough A7V, Gas/Assault Chamond, FT17 support to be Standoff lite version) and then some extremely situational choices (AA Truck, TH Landship).

As it stands, tanks are trying to match what the Standoff can do. Like tankmayvin has said in the past, killing infantry is the name of the game so unless you need to use a vehicle slot to allow your team to do that (removing enemy tanks/planes with the respective counter), you should be picking the most effective choice for yourself. Case/Canister already sucks balls at combating infantry and is only used when the other choice is worse, which only happens in 2 out of 14 armour choices.

Cannister is just awful in BF1.
