Don't listen to the complainers. Vehicles are less powerful and less populated than BF4/BF3.

64 man conq is still a clusterfuck, but that's because map design and overall meta encourages mass swarming of objectives.

I've gotten my money's worth with BF1 on an $/hr basis. I'd pickup the base game (now heavily discounted). I think you're good for at least 100hr-200hr, which is a pretty good price point for entertainment.

People need to be pragmatic about their gaming. You shouldn't expect every game to grab you for thousands of hours.

BF1 certainly does have lots of problems though, the least of which seems to something of an identity crisis, or at the least a lack of coherent design vision/direction. The maps, etc are pretty moreso than they are functional. I think the maps have lost a lot of the soul from BF3/BF4 which had a lot of dud maps, but a solid quiver of classics.

Absolutely. Already 800 Hrs in.

In my opinion, its issues are less severe than previous titles. Its class and weapon balance is much better and the slower TTK (as controversial as it is) allows me to win almost all 1 v 1 and many 1 v 2's. The theme also gives it alot of flavor, with many rare, obscure weapons that would otherwise have been left forgotten.

Frontlines is an amazing mode as is Operations (not all of them). Rush is also great fun, with a few hit/miss maps but none of which are completely broken. TDM is pretty enjoyable, if a little less choatic.

Conquest was never a favourite of mine but I somewhat prefer it in BF1 more than previous titles, even if the scoring system is a little inconsequential.

One major drawback though is that RSP is still weak. As it stands, Sniper limited servers are non existent though this function will release soon. I feel that this is the biggest single issue that the game suffers; not enough community management/building tools. Even the platoon system is far more limited than BF4 with no ability to invite players or even a dedicated group chat. Had BF1 retained this feature (or better yet made it 1st party not through procon) and also incorporated elements from Battlelog, such as BattleReports, it would have had a much stronger shell around the thought out game play loop.

In general, despite having 60HRS 1942 1.5k BC2, 80 HRS BF3, 2000HRS BF4, 125HRS Hardline, the amount of enjoyment I have had with BF1 far exceeds any of those as there is much more game play variety, particularly in the weapon balance department. Gone are the days of running around with relatively low TTK assault rifles and small medkits, which seriously hurt gameplay variety particularly in BF4 and ESPECIALLY in BF3. (BC2 and Hardline suffered less from these issues). I easily see myself playing this game for years to come, especially if community servers and enhanced access to DLC maps are addressed.

I would add that it's a night and day experience from the perspective of console or PC. Console is plagued by some terribly OP Aim Assist which just sullies the gameplay and elevates the power of the Bolt-Actions especially in their respective Sweet Spots. If at all you've heard that BF1 is casual, it's because of the goddamn Aim Assist. Fortunately, it's finally being looked at in the CTE and will be poked and prodded further once CTE is approved on consoles. Alan Kertz even said he's open to removing Auto Rotation from the Aim Assist functionality. This would instantly improve the gunplay, despite a higher TTK overall.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

I will never "get" playing competitive MP shooters on console because of controller architecture like this. I don't think it's much of a stretch to say that the PC vs console experience leads to the two versions being basically different titles.

BF1 is also emphatically a console title based on sales and player counts, I wonder what the long-term repercussions of this will be on future franchise iterations.

Conclusion... Dont do it, but if I really really want to then buy it for PS4 and also pay that ridiculous 50 to even be able to play online.

That's sad, I like the setting and what most people on youtube see as a lack in BF1, I dont mind.

Maybe the time has come that Singleplayer focused titles are on the rise.

Meh. I would definitely get the base game on PC if you can get it on sale.

Depends; I think it will be better after next patch. ADAD spam reached new levels of bad in this game and if the snipers hadn't been buffed the way they were, I'd say sniper player would have easily halved relative to BF4, because its absolutely impossible to accurately hit someone once they start the dance of cancer

I am torn about the PS4 vs. PC thing. I mean the PC is obviously the prime platform for shooters, but 25k players is nothing, and it could reach Hardline levels soon. Three times as many players on PS4 are a better bet to fill the servers in more areas at more times.

On PC there are just better alternatives out now for way less money, albeit having a different gaming experience. If ARE5R06 indeed does not have a gaming rig though, he will need the PS version, which is also more expensive and it is surely not worth 50 right now.

Before you make a definite buying decision you should indeed wait for the new DLC coming in 4-6 weeks. Player counts will rise and the gaming experience will likely a bit better. Probably not enough though to bring people back. Honestly if players want the Battlefield experience with a lot of bang for the buck they should buy BF4 or get it from Access, as it still has a solid crowd and healthy community servers in Europe.

There are few games that do exactly what battlefield does, the way it does it. There might be subjectively better games if you prefer a different type of game, but nothing scratches the BF itch like BF.

I'm skeptical that player counts will rise much, no matter how big they promise the DLC will be. TNSP didn't remotely put a dent in counts. The two "bonus" TNSP maps didn't stop the player bleed on all platforms either.

Player counts are irrelevant if you play 64 man conq in a populated timezone until they drop to like sub, 1000 levels on average. A mere 1000 in a zone people is still around 20 well populated 64 player servers. More than enough to get some games in.

By contrast, BFH is sitting at like 200 players on PC. That's effectively completely dead.
