Controversial: Where is the line between misogyny and being anti revisionist?

*sigh* Im going to be lucky to come out of this alive with an unlocked thread PLEASE read what im stating carefully and understand im NOT trying to make a political statement.
This is a complex issue I want to bring up so hopefully I get a more definitive answer. Ive been observing peoples reactions to adding stronger women roles to video games and films. But I want to talk about historic accuracy in videogames.

I feel as if DICE is doing a perfect job with appropriately adding women to BF1 in the form of the historically accurate Women's death battalion of Russia in WW1 Women's Battalion - Wikipedia

However there are times where I feel I can agree with people to an extent about things like the questionable historical accuracy of CoD WWII (though yes I do acknowledge there were some fighting women in ww2 such as mariya oktyabrskaya Mariya Oktyabrskaya: The Tank-Driving Widow ) just feeling a bit as if Activision is putting political pandering before historical accuracy (I could talk about the black nazi soldiers being a worse offense considering the persecution of blacks by the Nazis Blacks during the Holocaust)

With that said however, I find the criticism of DICE's addition of women to be unjustified considering the historical accuracy DICE has considered for the addition. If you were to look into to comments of the reveal trailer of In the Name Of the Tsar, you would find lots of hilariously bad comments regarding the topic. I am someone who doesn't draw conclusions fast or intentionally interpret a statement that was made to make someone look racist where there was zero malice committed. However, It it hard for me to see these particular people as anything but either historically illiterate or misogynists.

Can someone help me out here?

Aside from the expected few people that will always argue these things, the general community reaction to Russia's female Scout has been along the lines of "wow, her voice is pretty badass", "new Scout looks sweet", and so forth. Very positive, people really like her.

And I do think you're right, CoD WWII seems to be trying to copy what BF1 is doing without really grasping the core ideas and principles behind it. While I do think the two black German characters are silly in BF1, especially the Cavalry officer, the rest of BF1's selection is fantastic and I love it.

Black, female Nazis, but with no swastikas in multiplayer is... yeah.
Who has fun, wins.

You may not be actively trying to present this as political, but that's what it boils down to. Big companies are transitioning to incorporate anything involving political correctness; be it gender equality, diversity, or social justice. And it's all done to support a certain narrative. Thing is EA and Activision probably don't actually care about these things, but someone told them or convinced them that political correctness sells games nowadays because it's the trendy thing to do. "Be PC, everyone it's totally IN!"

Personally, I think this exaggeration of political correctness is going to divide all of human existence to the point of complete and utter chaos; I also think it's worse than the plague itself. It would be one thing if companies did this whole strong female character(s) stuff if it wasn't a hot button issue, but it very much is one; they're doing it for the wrong reasons which is primarily why people are so fed up with PC culture invading every aspect of their lives. Video games used to be pretty neutral about shit like this, but now they're becoming a platform for it.

The researchers' "discovery" of the Russian Women's Batallion is really just a convenient way to check off that little box that shows they're a company who meets all the PC requirements. Game designers should only care about the quality of their gameplay and not have to worry about if they identify with today's social standards of "progress". If an inclusion literally adds no value to your gameplay, you're focusing on the wrong aspects of game design.
To Aim Assist or not to Aim Assist, that is the question.

Nope. Aim Assist or bust; here's why:

Sorry about this one, because as much as I find this topic interesting myself, it falls pretty squarely into rule 12. Going to lock it before anything we regret happens.
