Also, remember that there seem to be two "factory" variants (NOT including the bastard Luger). Note the higher standing spread but lower moving spread. The Avtomat shares this characteristic.

It is known that there are different "types" of weapon, even in the same class. One is more "accurate" in ADS - Not Moving, while the other is more "handy" and so are better in ADS - Moving and Hipfire. Much like the "Standard" and "Bullpup" differentiator in BF4. That is the base stats, and then the "variants" go on top of that.

So, for the Medic Self-Loading Rifles: "Standard" are General Liu, Selbstlader 1906, Selbstlader M1916, Mondragon, and RSC 1917. "Bullpup" are Cei-Rigotti, Fedorov Avtomat, Autoloading 8, and M1907 SL.

A similar differentiator exists for Support LMGs: "Belt-Fed" with even better ADS - Not Moving but even worse ADS - Moving and Hipfire, being MG15 N.A., Parabellum MG14 and Perino Model 1908. "Standard" are M1909 Benet-Mercie and Lewis Gun. "Bullpup" are BAR 1918, Chauchat and Madsen MG. The Huot breaks the mold by having "Belt-Fed" ADS - Not Moving but since it escaped the recent LMG Hipfire nerf, it now has "Bullpup" Hipfire.

Original Post and then subsequent posts updated with DLC3 data.
Hipfire (both moving and not moving) - Assault and Trench shines here.
ADS Moving - Realm of the Optical.
ADS Not Moving - Suitable for Telescopic, Marksman and Sniper variants.

Of note, the C96 Trench, instead of following the traditional Assault Primary Trench Variant pattern of having 1x SIPS in Hipfire, and then a big number say 4x for MP 18 or 6x for Automatico for ADS.... The C96 Trench uses 1x for ADS and then 1/6 (0.167) for Hipfire. This results in it having similar performance as the MP 18 and Automatico Trench variants in Hipfire, while not having any downside in ADS.

Of another note, the Maschinenpistole M1912 has 1x SIPS in both Hipfire and ADS, as pointed out by Shalan:
Interesting how the Maschinenpistole M1912 has no FSRM or FSSM.

With it, if you can click fast enough... say ~438RPM... you can perform the same as even the Auto-8 .35 Factory... and Madsen MG non-bipod (Storm or Trench)... at 125m ADS Not Moving(!). I estimate that at that range, you can down 2x 100hp targets in 4.383333333s, which is not bad at all... if it were not a "Machine Pistol." Since it is, this versatility is kinda ridiculous. Of course, it absolutely shreds everything up to 25m, no matter the stance.

Only the further Model 1900 buffs allowed the double-barreled shotty to stay in front. Otherwise the P.16 would be king.

For the other DLC3 additions:

Farquhar-Hill - I mirror MarbleDuck's sentiment that you might as well use the Mondragon. If you REALLY need the capacity, you're better off with the Federov at closer range and... dare I say... M1916... at longer range. *edited to add* It's still not bad, though, so you can definitely "do work" with it. I do intend to use the Storm to eventually unlock the Optical, but from what I can tell right now, Storm > Optical. Its "ghost ring" Iron Sights is pretty good, while its base Spread is pretty good for its damage model.
Carcano Trench - Within 47m, don't you want the Russian 1895 Trench? Beyond, or even just overall, don't you want the M.95 Carbine? I have no practical experience with any of this, but that's my feeling.
Type 38 - Like all Scout Rifles with Sweetspots, it's pretty good within its sweetspot and merely "okay" outside. I ranked it right dab in the middle.
M1917 - Did you know that it is 103lbs? Somehow I think its Hipfire spreads are not bad enough :P Keep in mind that this is only simulating to kill 2x 100hp targets, so the M1917 (and also Perino) perhaps do not shine. At least there is a proper Telescopic instead of that Defensive rubbish.

Somehow I think its Hipfire spreads are not bad enough Keep in mind that this is only simulating to kill 2x 100hp targets, so the M1917 (and also Perino) perhaps do not shine. At least there is a proper Telescopic instead of that Defensive rubbish.

Going to have to respectfully disagree with both of you. F-H Optical is like running a Mondragon Storm recoil package with the Mondragon Optical spread characteristics, plus an Extended variant with a single reload mechanic. This thing even has less recoil than the C-R with a better damage model. I used to main the Mondragon Optical; F-H Optical has replaced it.

M1917 - Did you know that it is 103lbs?

False. That's the weight all setup on its massive stationary tripod.

Sounds like the P16 gets all the benefits of a Storm gun while maintaining the Factory-like ability to burst quickly thanks to its lack of first-shot stuff, I'll have to practice with that.

I agree with you as well. For me the F-H Optical is the best overall SLR in the game atm, due to 20 round mag, good sips, good dmg , decent ttk.

It is in my opinion the most versatile SLR in the game. For Close Quarters you can use your Auto Revolver or Obrez.
Almost have 1k kills with it already, have played with it on Achi Baba a lot and on Argonne Forest Frontlines.

For close quarters the Fedorov Optical still seems the best, 25. Extended dmg drop off after 17 meters is just too much imo.
Before this I was pretty much using the Fedorov Optical on every Frontline map , other than Monte Grappa. Now I am playing only with the F-H Optical on every single Frontline maps and on Achi Baba.
When I first started playing with this SLR it felt like the most Amazing Gun that I have ever used in BF1.

I surmise that it is due to the normal amount of Hrec. Yes I am implying that all other SLRs have abnormally high amount of Hrec.
